Hinatazaka46 Bids Farewell To First Generation Members

Sasaki Kumi, Mirei, and Mana announce their graduation after nearly nine years with the group.

Hinatazaka46, the popular Japanese idol group, is set to bid farewell to its three prominent first-generation members: Sasaki Kumi, Sasaki Mirei, and Takase Mana. This announcement, made on January 6, 2025, has sent ripples through the fan base as the trio prepares to graduate following the release of their 13th single, "Sotsugyo Shashin Dake ga Shitteru," scheduled for release on January 29, 2025.

The official departure marks the end of the first generation of Hinatazaka46, where all original members will have officially graduated, showcasing the evolution of the group over the years.

Sasaki Kumi, who has played the role of captain, shared her sentiments about leaving the group. "I decided to graduate because I felt the group and the juniors were growing strongly, and I knew they would be okay. I want to watch over them together with our fans, the 'Ohisama.' This is my farewell heart inevitably: I want to teach everything I can during the remaining time,” she wrote on her blog, expressing confidence in her members' capabilities.

Sasaki Mirei reminisced about her almost nine-year career as part of the group. "Looking back, I am grateful for these years spent as an idol. I have truly been happy thanks to the support and love from everyone. Of course, there have been challenges, but the joyful moments far outweigh the tough ones. I wish to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to this incredible experience. I want to enjoy the remaining time as much as possible," she stated.

Takase Mana also addressed her fans, stating, "I have something important to share with you all. I will graduate from Hinatazaka46 after this 13th single's activities. I am very thankful to everyone who supported me since I auditioned at 17. I’ve been active for over eight years thanks to your encouragement." Her statement reflects the deep appreciation and surprise felt by fans after her sudden announcement.

Each member's commitment to the group over their careers has been substantial; Kumi has been pivotal since joining back when Hinatazaka46 was still known as Hiragana Keyaki46 and played significant roles including serving as the captain from 2018. Meanwhile, Mirei has not only been integral to group performances but has also stepped out over the years to establish herself as a model. Takase, as one of the original members, contributes to the group's aura and artistry.

The announcements have led to fans acknowledging the impact these departures will have. Each member shared experiences of joy, expressed gratitude for their time spent together on stage, and acknowledged the personal growth witnessed not only by themselves but also seen through the eyes of their fans.

This transition marks the end of an era for Hinatazaka46. Following this graduation, fans are left to wonder how the group will evolve moving forward. The first generation of members was known for their strong bond and commitment to one another, and their departure signifies not just the end of their time together but also calls for the next wave of talent to shine.

The official Hinatazaka46 website declares, "We will announce specific graduation dates and activities as soon as they are confirmed," adding to the anticipation surrounding these heartfelt farewells.

While the group's growth continues to be marked by such changes, the newfound paths for Kumi, Mirei, and Mana are destined to reflect their dedication as they make strides beyond their idol lives. What remains vitally clear is the emotional connection they shared with their fans—an integral part of the idol experience.

Fans can reminisce about their beloved first-generation members during their final single release activities. With gratitude and hope, they look forward to the future endeavors of these talented females, celebrating the memories created together through nearly a decade of shared experiences.
