Shobara City Blooms With Special Spring Deals And New Attractions

As cherry blossoms blossom, Shobara City unveils exciting offers and new family-friendly venues for spring break.

As spring approaches, Shobara City, located in Hiroshima Prefecture, is eagerly preparing for the annual cherry blossom season. To celebrate this vibrant time of year, local accommodation facilities are offering special promotions designed to enhance the lodging experience for visitors. One particularly enticing offer is the "Sakura Color Night with Cider! Shobara Cider Plan," a limited-time accommodation package available from April 1 to May 1, 2025. This package includes a complimentary bottle of Shobara cider for each group that books this deal. Notably, guests under 20 will receive local Shobara apple juice instead, as the cider is alcoholic.

Shobara City is renowned for its stunning cherry blossoms, which typically bloom from late March to mid-April. A unique geographical feature of the area means that different locations exhibit varying blooming periods, allowing visitors to enjoy cherry blossoms for an extended duration, often until mid-April. Indeed, Ueno Park, recognized as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots, boasts approximately 600 Somei Yoshino cherry trees and is well-known for its night illuminations, further enhancing the beauty of the season.

Moreover, the Hachiman National Bihoku Hillside Park, which also features cherry blossoms, will provide splendid views alongside tulips, making it a perfect destination for hanami (flower viewing) picnics. During the festivities, guests can indulge in Shobara's locally sourced cider while soaking in the views of the cherry blossoms nearby.

In addition to the cider plan, the city also has a wealth of cherry blossom viewing spots. For example, Tojo's three famous cherry trees, including Mori-no-Yu Edohigan, Konukano Yozakura, and Chidoribetsu Shakunage, propose another stunning viewing experience. Towns along the Tojo River are adorned with approximately 600 meters of cherry blossom trees, creating an enchanting atmosphere when the trees are in full bloom.

Noteworthy mentions include the weeping cherry trees at Enshoji Temple and Rengeji Temple, both of which have fascinating histories. The weeping cherry tree at Enshoji Temple was planted during the early Edo period, earning it designation as a natural monument. In contrast, the 150-year-old weeping cherry at Rengeji Temple also enchants visitors with its beauty.

As the cherry blossom season unfolds, various facilities in Shobara City are gearing up to welcome families, couples, and friends seeking the perfect spring outing. Not only do these places offer scenic beauty and tranquility, but they also ensure that visitors can engage in the cherry blossom viewing experience at their own pace.

In a separate development for those seeking family-friendly attractions, several new venues will open in Hiroshima City just in time for the spring break. On March 20, 2025, the Dog Run at Daiwa Parking Area, located along the famous Shimanami Kaido, will cater to pet lovers looking for a place for their dogs to play. This dog run is free and occupies an area of approximately 200 square meters.

The newly developed area will be officially inaugurated with the inviting presence of a disaster relief dog named Luke, who has participated in various emergency situations aiding efforts. Luke showcased his keen sense of smell at the event, finding a person hidden within one of three boxes, much to the delight of attendees.

Additionally, on March 24, 2025, the Skills Garden Minamoa Store, an indoor playground designed for young children, will open in Hiroshima City. This venue will accommodate children aged 0 to 2nd grade, allowing parents to unwind in nearby shopping areas while their children have fun in a safe environment. The plaza includes various play structures, such as a ball pool and jungle gym, thus providing different ways for children to engage with play.

Simultaneously, the Cat Cafe MOFF Minamoa will also open on the same day, providing an interactive experience where children can learn about and engage with around 20 cats. This charming café aims to educate visitors about the beauty of life through the lens of animal care.

Lastly, the Pokemon Center Hiroshima will introduce a new gallery space called "Gyarados HIROBA" on March 24, 2025. Featuring a large play structure themed on Gyarados, this open-air space allows families to enjoy the Pokemon universe while bonding over shared experiences, ensuring that children have plenty of entertainment options during spring break.

As the cherry blossoms bloom and new attractions arise, Shobara City, along with Hiroshima Prefecture, becomes a hub for families and friends seeking memorable experiences under the vibrant hues of spring. Visitors are encouraged to reserve accommodations early, especially during weekends when demand is exceptionally high, as spots can fill up quickly. With various attractions and activities planned, the region offers an enriching experience for anyone looking to enjoy the season.
