Rita Cetina Scholarship Card Distribution Initiates Nationwide

Beginning February 5, support extends to families with secondary education students across Mexico.

The distribution of the Rita Cetina scholarship cards, aimed at supporting families with students enrolled in basic education, is set to begin nationwide on February 5 and run until March 31, 2024. This initiative by the National Coordination of Scholarships for Well-being promises assistance to over 129,755 students registered across various Mexican states including Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Durango, and Campeche.

According to Nadia Lizbeth Ochoa Becerra, head of the initiative for Tamaulipas, “We are about to start the operation of distributing cards for families who registered for the scholarship, which is becoming universal for basic education.” This marks the beginning of important financial support for many families who may be struggling to afford educational expenses.

The scholarship, known as the Universal Scholarship for Basic Education “Rita Cetina,” allocates $1,900 bi-monthly to each family, with $700 additional for each secondary school student. Ochoa Becerra emphasized, “The objective is for all students to have this economic support, which will allow them to have the necessary tools to continue their studies until finishing basic education.”

Running from February 5 to March 31, the card distribution is organized through schools across the country, as Ochoa Becerra noted. During this period, families who missed the registration deadline will have the opportunity to sign up directly at their children’s schools. “We expect families to come on the distributions day. Our team will assist them to complete the registration,” she added. Families will need to present various documents, including official identification, birth certificates, and proof of residence, making it easier for them to receive the necessary funds.

Further details were shared by Mtra. Claudia Lizbeidy Ramírez Barrientos, who oversees the program in Guanajuato. She mentioned, “The payment months correspond to the first bimonthly period of the year (January-February 2025),” related to the timelines for card distribution and financial disbursement. The operational procedures are straightforward, focusing on ensuring every eligible student receives the support they need.

Environmental factors are also contributing to strong participation, as recent reports have highlighted. For example, more than 80,000 of Durango's students out of 91,974 enrolled have registered for the scholarship program. Meanwhile, Campeche reported around 41,989 students who qualify for the financial aid, supported by the National Coordination’s distribution network.

Parents and guardians must bring specific documentation to receive the scholarship cards. These documents include current identification, the student’s birth certificate, and their CURP (Unique Population Registry Code). By ensuring children can be enrolled and embraced by the educational support network, this scholarship aims to substantially reduce the barriers associated with continuing their schooling.

With distributions set to take place through designated public secondary schools, the Rita Cetina scholarship emphasizes accessibility. Families across various regions are particularly encouraged to attend schools during the designated times—this includes coordinating with school officials to confirm delivery methods and dates.

Authorities have planned for the visits to schools to encompass every secondary education institution nationwide. This marks the first step toward achieving universal access to funds for basic education students, starting from secondary before gradually extending support to primary and preschool levels, eventually ensuring no child misses the opportunity for schooling due to financial constraints.

The anticipation surrounding this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing necessary resources for educational success. After the distribution phase, families should expect to see financial resources available within ten days of receiving their cards, with hopes to ease burdening educational expenses.

The Rita Cetina scholarship continues being integral for families and students alike, bridging gaps created by economic constraints and fostering higher educational attainments among the youth. Therefore, this initiative is not only about disbursing cards but ensuring future generations have the foundational training and resources needed to thrive academically and professionally.

Overall, the nationwide effort to distribute the Rita Cetina scholarship cards signals promising advancements for families across Mexico, encouraging students to seize educational opportunities and strive for their academic goals. With the systematic rollout of these funds, it also reinforces the idea of investing in the future of the nation through education.
