A knife attack on Thursday evening escalated tensions at Erika-Künzel-Platz in Schwäbisch Gmünd, resulting from a heated altercation between two men and another group.
According to the local police from Polizeipräsidium Aalen, the incident occurred around 18:45 when two men, aged 24 and 22, encountered a group of four men. The violence stemmed from earlier conflicts, as the 24-year-old had allegedly exchanged words with one of the men from the opposing group at a bar days prior.
The police revealed, "A verbal disagreement escalated, leading to violence." What began as a simple quarrel quickly turned dangerous when one of the men from the group pulled out a knife, inflicting injuries on the 24-year-old.
After the attack, the assailants fled the scene, moving toward Königsturm, prompting the police to issue a call for witnesses. Officials are particularly interested in gathering information about the attacker, who the victim described as male, with dark hair and a full beard, approximately between 25 to 27 years old and standing between 1.70 and 1.80 meters tall, dressed entirely in black.
