The Xpeng G6 Facelift Debuts at Auto Shanghai 2025
New electric SUV impresses with advanced features and competitive pricing
After revealing itself to the world last month, the Xpeng G6 facelift made a notable appearance at Auto Shanghai 2025, showcasing its updated design and enhanced performance. The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, Xpeng, is expanding its lineup with three variants of the G6, priced at RMB176,800 (approximately RM105,000), RMB186,800 (RM111,000), and RMB198,800 (RM118,000). Each variant offers varying CLTC ranges of 625 km and 725 km, catering to different consumer needs.
According to a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the standard 625 km variants are equipped with a 68.5 kWh battery, while the long-range variant boasts an 80.8 kWh battery. All three variants are powered by a single rear-mounted motor generating 296 PS and 450 Nm of torque, allowing the G6 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. This performance marks a significant enhancement over the pre-facelift model, which had battery capacities of 66 kWh with a range of 580 km and 87.5 kWh with a range of 755 km.
One of the standout features of the G6 facelift is its improved charging capabilities. The vehicle now supports an 800-volt architecture, with the charging multiplier increased from 3C to 5C, enabling drivers to charge from 10% to 80% in a mere 12 minutes. This rapid charging capability is expected to appeal to consumers looking for convenience in their electric vehicle experience.
While the details about a potential dual-motor version remain unclear, the pre-facelift’s all-wheel-drive variant is noteworthy, delivering 358 kW (487 PS) and 660 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The G6's dimensions have slightly changed, with the length increasing by 5 mm to a total of 4,758 mm, while the width, height, and wheelbase remain consistent at 1,920 mm, 1,650 mm, and 2,890 mm, respectively.
Inside, the G6 facelift features a new 15.6-inch touchscreen, an upgrade from the previous 14.9-inch display, paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. The interior design emphasizes comfort and technology, with the front seats now offering a massage function and the rear seat backrests providing 12 adjustment levels ranging from 27 to 38.4 degrees. The vehicle's ambient lighting has also been enhanced, featuring a ‘galaxy rhythm array’ and ‘four-door diffuse reflection’ for a modern touch.
In terms of technology, the G6 facelift is equipped with Xpeng’s self-developed Turing AI chip, enhancing its smart driving capabilities. The vehicle’s hardware includes dual Nvidia Drive Orin chips, providing an impressive total computing power of 508 TOPS, which is essential for advanced driver-assistance systems.
Meanwhile, the XPeng G6 Coupe SUV is making waves in the Irish market, having been introduced earlier this year. This all-electric mid-sized crossover is comparable in size to Tesla’s Model Y and is already gaining traction in the passenger car sales charts. The G6 Coupe is characterized by a streamlined silhouette and modern design elements, including double-row LED headlights and full-width diamond-design taillights.
The interior of the G6 Coupe emphasizes simplicity and technology, featuring a 14.96-inch standing infotainment touchscreen that controls nearly all vehicle functions, minimizing the need for physical buttons. The car is equipped with a 960W audio system comprising 18 speakers, ensuring a premium audio experience. The rear seats provide ample head and legroom, with a generous luggage capacity ranging from 571 to 1,374 litres when the seats are folded down.
Variants of the G6 Coupe include Standard and Long Range, both with rear-wheel drive, and a Performance model featuring all-wheel drive, set to launch in Q3 2025. The Standard model is powered by a 66 kWh battery pack, delivering 258 hp and a range of 435 km, while the Long Range variant offers a range of up to 570 km with an 87.5 kWh battery. Acceleration times from 0-100 km/h are 6.9 seconds for the Standard model and 6.7 seconds for the Long Range variant.
Fast DC charging capabilities are also impressive, allowing for a charge from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes, thanks to the vehicle’s support for charging rates of 215/280 kW. The G6 Coupe has received a top five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, further solidifying its reputation as a reliable choice for consumers.
Pricing for the G6 Coupe in Ireland is competitive, with the Standard model priced at €42,000 and the Long Range version at €49,440, inclusive of all EV grants and incentives. As Xpeng continues to expand its presence in the electric vehicle market, the G6 models are poised to attract a diverse range of customers looking for innovative, high-performance vehicles.
With the Xpeng G6 facelift and the Coupe SUV making significant strides in both the Chinese and Irish markets, the company is establishing itself as a formidable player in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape. The advancements in battery technology, charging speed, and smart features reflect Xpeng's commitment to providing consumers with cutting-edge electric mobility solutions.
