After the story came out, we literally had people all day, every day, bringing in food. Within a couple of days, we had so much food donated we had to move it out of our lobby. We couldn’t open our front door.” The shelter received countless donations, including 10 to 12 pallets filled with dog and cat food, ensuring the animals' needs were met.

The museum houses artifacts reflecting important past events, including the nearly 90-year-old American flag believed to be the first carried ashore by U.S. forces during World War II.

Rouse, was part of the regiment’s colors as they became the first U.S. unit to cross the Atlantic to Europe during WWII.
