This year, three-quarters of households are still planning to stock up on traditional supplies like pencils, binders, and backpacks. A particularly interesting finding is the strong preference for cost-saving measures, with 69% of parents actively seeking out sales.

Parenting experts recognize this quest for deals alongside the growing need for emotional and logistical support. Stress levels have spiked, with some parents expressing feelings completely overwhelmed by the demands placed upon them.

A survey by Life360 revealed startling insights: 68% of parents feel burdened by the numerous tasks they juggle, and 60% admitted to shedding tears over back-to-school demands. The emotional toll is as significant as the financial strain, with families expected to spend nearly $458 per child on supplies, with much of it disappearing during the school year.

The rising prices, coupled with endless shopping lists for specialty items, contribute to parental anxiety. Finding high-demand items—like specific markers or trendy gadgets—can turn from simple errands to scavenger hunts, with exhaustion lining every shopping trip.

What's more, logistics play heavily on familial schedules, which many parents liken to managing another part-time job. Those surveyed noted they spend around 17 hours per week coordinating school-related activities on top of their regular responsibilities.

This juggling act has parents opting for reusing supplies, with two-thirds of households planning to replenish only what they truly need. 34% stated they would opt for entirely new supplies, but many are working within budget constraints, leaning on intentions to save where feasible.

Meanwhile, back-to-school shopping is taking on new dimensions, with many households getting crafty to mitigate expenses. Parents are not just narrowing down lists of needed items; they're actively trading clothes and supplies to keep costs manageable.
