Vietnam Launches VietChain Talents 2025 Blockchain Competition

The initiative aims to nurture blockchain talent and enhance digital transformation in Vietnam.

On May 6, 2025, the "Vietnam Blockchain Talent Search: VietChain Talents 2025" competition was officially launched in Hanoi, marking a significant step towards fostering a robust blockchain ecosystem in Vietnam. Organized by the Government Cipher Committee and the Vietnam Blockchain Association, the event has garnered enthusiastic support from over 50 entities, including state agencies, technology firms, and universities.

The competition aims to discover and nurture high-quality human resources for the blockchain sector, contributing to the nation's digital transformation and enhancing community awareness of emerging technologies. Colonel Dr. Hoang Van Thuc, Director of the Cryptography Academy and a co-organizer of the event, emphasized the long-term commitment to supporting young talents through training and career development initiatives. "Young talent is the foundation of the digital nation. We believe that through the VietChain Talents 2025 competition, a generation of Vietnamese blockchain engineers will emerge, ready to think big, take action, and compete on the international stage," said Dr. Thuc during the launch event.

The competition is structured around four key themes, with a total prize pool of up to 3.5 billion VND. The first prize for the Blockchain Layer 1 theme is valued at 1 billion VND, while the other three themes—Centralized/Decentralized Exchange, Blockchain Tracing, and Blockchain Bridge—each offer a first prize of 500 million VND. Additionally, universities that submit winning teams can receive a reward of 200 million VND.

Participants will be evaluated by a prestigious jury comprising members from various leading organizations, including the Government Cipher Committee, the Vietnam Blockchain Association, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. This ensures a fair and transparent assessment process based on multiple criteria, including the teams' self-assessment and their commitment to advancing their solutions in the future.

The competition opens for entries on May 6, 2025, and will close on June 20, 2025. Interested individuals passionate about technology can register at Vietchain.1matrix.com or contact via email at [email protected].

On the same day, 1Matrix Company, a member of the Vietnam Blockchain Association, was officially launched, focusing on developing the "Make in Vietnam" Blockchain Layer 1 network. Phan Duc Trung, Chairman of 1Matrix, stated that the goal is to master core technology and establish blockchain as a critical digital infrastructure for public data, public services, and digital finance in Vietnam. He highlighted that mastering technology would not only enhance national capabilities but also safeguard national data sovereignty amid extensive digital transformation.

"The complete mastery of technology and intellectual property in blockchain will enable Vietnam to proactively apply technology in developing the digital economy, digital society, and digital future. It will also reinforce national sovereignty over data and information security, elevating Vietnam's position on the global stage," Trung emphasized during the launch event.

Trung further noted that the "Make in Vietnam" Blockchain network will serve as a decentralized digital infrastructure for public data, public services, and applications of distributed ledger technology (DLT) in Vietnam's digital economy. "We aim to lay the foundation for core technology—from consensus algorithms, data mechanisms, and network security to user experience—building on the advancements of previous blockchain technologies. This will be the first blockchain service network designed and operated by Vietnamese people, meeting international interoperability standards," he added.

General Dang Vu Son, former Head of the Government Cipher Committee, expressed confidence that with the collaboration of regulatory agencies, the close connection of the business community, research institutes, and universities, especially through initiatives like VietChain Talents, Vietnam will gradually build a strong blockchain ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of creating a safe and transparent digital infrastructure to ensure national sovereignty in cyberspace, striving for a self-reliant Vietnam in the digital age.

The VietChain Talents 2025 competition not only serves as a platform to showcase innovative blockchain solutions but also highlights Vietnam's commitment to becoming a leader in blockchain technology. As the competition unfolds, it is expected to attract a diverse range of participants eager to contribute to the country's digital future.
