Twilight Of The Warriors Wins Big At Hong Kong Film Awards

Mad Fate and My Dad also shine with multiple awards and emotional speeches

The 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony took place on April 27, 2025, at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Grand Theater, celebrating the best in local cinema. This year, the film Mad Fate emerged as the biggest contender, boasting an impressive 18 nominations, while Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In followed closely with 14 nominations.

In a dramatic turn of events, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In clinched the Best Film award along with a total of nine accolades, marking it as the standout winner of the night. Directed by Soi Cheang and produced by John Chong and Cheuk Wan Chi, the film's success included not only the prestigious Best Film award but also Best Director for Cheang, Best Photography, Best Editing, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Action Choreography, Best Sound Effects, and Best Visual Effects.

On the other hand, Mad Fate, despite its record number of nominations, secured six awards. Wei Shiya was awarded Best Actress for her role in the film, while Michael Ning took home the Best New Performer award for his performance in My Dad. The emotional highlights of the night included Ning's heartfelt acceptance speech, where he dedicated his award to God and expressed gratitude towards his family and the team at Emperor Films.

Another significant winner was Lau Ching Wan, who received the Best Actor award for his role in My Dad. Guo Tailin was honored with the Best Supporting Actress award for the same film, showcasing a strong showing from the cast. The Best Supporting Actor award was presented by David Chiang and Yasuaki Kurata, with the honor going to Michael Ning.
