TN NMMS Result 2025 Released For Class 8 Students

Over 230,000 students can now check their scholarship results online after the April 12 announcement.

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, has officially declared the results for the TN National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2025, which took place on February 22, 2025. The results were released on April 12, 2025, in the afternoon, allowing Class 8 students who participated in the exam to check their scores online at dge.tn.gov.in.

This scholarship exam is a significant opportunity for economically disadvantaged students enrolled in government and government-aided schools. Those who qualify will receive financial support from Class 9 through Class 12, which is crucial for their continued education.

According to DGE, a total of 230,345 students applied for the NMMS examination this year, highlighting the interest and need for financial assistance among students in Tamil Nadu. The NMMS scheme aims to identify and support meritorious students from economically weaker sections by providing them with a scholarship of Rs. 12,000 per year until they complete their schooling.

To check the TN NMMS Result 2025, students can follow these simple steps:

  • Visit the official DGE Tamil Nadu website, dge.tn.gov.in.

  • Navigate to the “Results” section on the homepage.

  • Click on “TN NMMS Result February 2025.”

  • Enter your Roll Number and Date of Birth.

  • Click Submit to view your marks.

  • Download or print the result for future reference.

The NMMS examination consists of two papers: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), each comprising 90 questions with a total of 90 marks. To qualify, students must achieve at least 40% in each paper for the general category, while SC/ST/PH categories require a minimum of 32%.

After the individual results are published, a final merit list will also be made available on the DGE website. This list will confirm which students are eligible for the scholarship disbursement, and students are advised to regularly check for updates on the selection process.

Once students receive their results, they must complete several important steps, including:

  1. Document Verification: Schools will require various documents such as an income certificate, caste certificate, and Class 8 marksheet.

  2. Bank Account Requirement: Students must have an active bank account in their name to receive Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments.

  3. Scholarship Disbursement: The scholarship amount of ₹12,000 per year will be paid through DBT, valid from Class 9 to 12 if students remain eligible.

The NMMS scheme is designed not only to reduce dropout rates after middle school but also to provide consistent financial support to students who demonstrate merit and potential. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to fostering educational opportunities for all, especially for those from low-income households.

Clearing the NMMS exam is a significant achievement for any Class 8 student, as it opens doors to financial support that can significantly ease the burden of educational expenses. The scholarship plays a vital role in bridging the education gap, particularly for students in rural areas who may otherwise struggle to continue their studies.

As the results are now live, thousands of deserving students are one step closer to continuing their education without the financial burden that often comes with higher schooling. This initiative stands as a beacon of hope for many, encouraging them to pursue their academic goals without the fear of financial constraints.

For any discrepancies or queries regarding the results, students are encouraged to contact their school authorities or refer to the official DGE website for clarification. The DGE Tamil Nadu remains committed to providing timely updates and support to all students navigating this important phase of their academic journey.

In summary, the TN NMMS Result 2025 not only marks a pivotal moment for many students but also reinforces the importance of educational support programs in fostering a more equitable educational landscape in Tamil Nadu.
