Threats received by the management of the popular Japanese rock band Sakanaction have led to the arrest of 26-year-old Keita Suzuki, underscoring concerns about safety within the live music scene.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, Suzuki was arrested for sending threatening emails claiming he would stab someone if the band's concerts did not get canceled. These bold threats were intended to disrupt upcoming performances and caused the management to increase security at various venues.
The situation escalated when, over several months, he sent multiple alarming messages to the band’s management, stating, "If you don’t cancel the live, someone will stab me," alongside threats of mass harm, such as, "I will walk around with knives, and many people will die near the venue." Notably, the incidents began around October 2023, targeting concerts scheduled for 2024, including performances in Otaru, Nagoya, and Yokohama.
