On Monday night, April 14, 2025, the highly anticipated Knockouts of Season 27 of The Voice concluded with a series of dramatic performances that determined which contestants would advance to the Playoffs. The format of the Knockouts differs significantly from the earlier Battles, as artists select their own songs, allowing them to showcase their personal style and career aspirations. This season, each coach faced the challenge of making tough decisions without the option of a Save, relying solely on their Steal to keep their favorite artists in the competition.
During the first night of the Knockouts, Adam Levine and Michael Bublé made strategic moves by utilizing their Steals. Levine brought Kolby Cordell onto his team, while Bublé saved Angie Rey. On the following night, John Legend used his Steal on Ari Camille. By the time the third and final night arrived, Kelsea Ballerini was the only coach left with a Steal, adding to the tension of the evening.
As the final night unfolded, the stakes were high, with several talented artists facing elimination. The evening saw a mix of emotional performances and tough decisions from the coaches. Eliminated contestants included Carlos Santiago, Hailey Wright, Jacquelyn George, Kameron Jaso, and Nell Simmons, while the advancing artists were Adam David, Conor James, Darius Jay, Jaelen Johnston, Jadyn Cree, Olivia Kuper Harris, and Renzo.
The Knockouts began with Team Legend's Nell Simmons facing off against Renzo. Simmons performed "Sweet Thing" by Chaka Khan, while Renzo chose Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever." John Legend ultimately selected Renzo as the winner, praising his genre-defying style. "Nell, everyone was moved by her performance, but the problem is she went up against Renzo and he’s genre-defying, boundary-defying. Because he’s so different, I had to pick Renzo," Legend explained.
Next, Carlos Santiago from Team Bublé went head-to-head with Adam David. Santiago sang "You Are the Reason" by Callum Scott, while David performed "Unaware" by Allen Stone. Bublé declared Adam David the winner, citing his soulful voice and artistic clarity. "Carlos is a great singer but Adam for me is the best artist. He knows who he wants to be. He has a really soulful voice, great dexterity, power, and pitch. Can’t wait to see what my Adam does in the Playoffs," Bublé stated.
In another matchup, Kelsea Ballerini's Hailey Wright took on Jaelen Johnston. Wright performed "I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart" by Patsy Montana, while Johnston sang "Dial Drunk" by Noah Kahan. Ballerini chose Jaelen Johnston, emphasizing his steady and traditional-leaning voice. "Jaelen has this traditional-leaning voice with that storytelling element and it feels not dissimilar to what we’re hearing on country radio right now. I think he’s a dark horse in this competition," she remarked.
Team John’s Olivia Kuper Harris faced Jacquelyn George in the fourth Knockout round. Kuper Harris sang "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, while George performed "Too Little Too Late" by JoJo. John Legend praised Kuper Harris for her style and control, declaring her the winner. "Jacquelyn, the high range that she’s able to do is pretty stunning, but Olivia, wow, she nailed it with style and control. There’s really no one else like her in the competition," Legend noted.
The fifth Knockout round featured Jadyn Cree against Kameron Jaso, both from Team Bublé. Cree sang "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne, while Jaso performed "Say You Won’t Let Go" by James Arthur. Bublé selected Jadyn Cree as the winner, expressing his belief in her star quality. "Jadyn has a really clear, beautiful, unique voice. It’s one of those voices that we’re going to hear on the radio one day. I think she’s going to win this thing," he said.
Finally, Conor James faced Darius Jay in the last Knockout round for Team Adam. James performed "Forever Young" by Alphaville, while Jay sang "American Boy" by Estelle. Adam Levine declared Conor James the winner, praising his unique singing ability. "The possibilities with Conor, that dude can just sing like very few people can. His soulfulness, I want to lean into that. He’s going to be around for a while," Levine commented. Darius Jay was later stolen by Kelsea Ballerini, who expressed her excitement about having him on her team. "I have been waiting for this for so long. I think Darius is so special. I fought so hard for Darius since the jump and I finally got him on my team. I am so giddy to work with Darius Jay in the Playoffs," Ballerini said.
As the Knockouts wrapped up, the competition intensified, setting the stage for the upcoming Playoffs. Fans can tune in to The Voice on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC to see how the remaining artists fare in the next round. The show also streams the next day on Peacock.
In a lighter moment during the Knockouts, Adam Levine couldn’t help but express his frustration over not securing one of his favorite artists, Renzo, during the Blind Auditions. Levine playfully lamented, "I got blocked by John Legend. I’ve been regretting it and bitching about it ever since." Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé chimed in, confirming Levine's ongoing grumbling about Renzo, with Bublé quipping, "There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t hear Adam going 'Renzo! He woulda been mine!'" Levine’s playful rivalry with Legend and his nostalgic comments about his previous chairmate Blake Shelton added a humorous touch to the intense competition.
As the Playoffs approach, the excitement continues to build, with fans eager to see which artists will shine and who will ultimately claim victory in this season of The Voice.
