The Last Of Us Part II Remastered Arrives On PC April 3 With New Content

Players can look forward to new characters, maps, and enhanced gameplay features as the acclaimed title debuts on PC.

Naughty Dog has officially announced that The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be making its debut on PC on April 3, 2025. Players can look forward to a revamped experience with numerous quality-of-life features and an exciting influx of new content, particularly for the fan-favorite No Return mode. Whether this will be a player's first encounter with the gripping stories of Ellie and Abby or a return visit, the adaptation aims to deliver an unforgettable experience.

The PC version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered will include all the upgrades and features introduced in the PlayStation 5 version released in 2024. This includes the introduction of the No Return roguelike survival mode, Guitar Free Play, and extensive developer commentary. Developers Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy have played a crucial role in ensuring that the game is not only visually stunning but also functional for PC users.

The PC version is optimized with cutting-edge technology such as Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation support, allowing for a seamless visual experience. Additionally, compatibility with AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 ensures that users can enjoy super-smooth performance. Players will appreciate features like VSync, framerate cap options, and DirectStorage support for faster load times. Moreover, the game supports Ultrawide displays, catering to gamers wanting an immersive viewing experience with 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 resolutions, including setups with triple monitors.

Players will also be able to enjoy the game in full 4K resolution while using a variety of controllers, or even through keyboard and mouse controls. The inclusion of 3D audio further enhances the atmosphere, wrapping players in the tension of each intense battle and the subtle nuances of exploration.

A feature that gamers are particularly excited about is the thorough customization available for keyboard and mouse controls. This includes control remapping, primary and secondary bindings, and an adaptive mode allowing users to mix keyboard and controller inputs seamlessly. "The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, to ensure the best possible experience on hardware ranging from high-end PCs to handheld gaming devices," noted Sony in their blog update.

In addition to the extensive PC enhancements, fans of the series can expect thrilling new content for the No Return mode. Two beloved characters from The Last of Us Part I are making their return as playable characters: Bill and Marlene.

Bill operates under a “Smuggler” playstyle, giving players access to a custom pump shotgun from various dead drops, alongside earning double rewards from drops. On the other hand, Marlene adopts a “Risk Taker” approach, making her equipped with a Custom Assault Rifle and the ability to engage in “All or Nothing” gambits. This dramatic shift in character dynamics is sure to change the gameplay strategies available to players.

The upcoming release will also introduce four new maps for the No Return mode: Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest. For instance, Overlook, which is situated atop a high rise in Seattle, boasts verticality and dynamics reminiscent of scenarios well-remembered from the campaign. The School map reflects the abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina’s struggles materialized, and Streets is set in the overgrown neighborhood of Hillcrest, offering fresh tactical opportunities. Finally, Nest will draw players deep into areas familiar to those who played as Abby, featuring infected-infested settings to conquer.

The excitement surrounding the No Return mode, especially since its debut on PlayStation 5 last year, is palpable, and the developers hope that the addition of these new characters and maps will provide an even fresher and stimulating experience for players on both platforms. Remarkably, players on PlayStation 5 will also benefit from the new No Return content, which, alongside new trophies and various bug fixes, will roll out on the same day through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch.

Moreover, players on PC are not required to sign up for a PlayStation Network account to play The Last of Us Part II Remastered. However, those who choose to link their accounts will gain access to PlayStation overlay features and PSN Trophies. As an added bonus, players linking their accounts will receive 50 in-game points, which can be used to unlock exciting new features. In addition, players can acquire a new skin for Ellie, a design featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from the upcoming PS5 title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

This exclusive skin sets the stage for a linked universe, as PS5 players will also enjoy access to Jordan’s jacket via the 2.0 patch, unlockable through in-game bonus points. As excitement builds for the upcoming release, anticipation grows for both the PC and PlayStation audiences to experience the evolving journey of Ellie and Abby.

Pre-purchases for The Last of Us Part II Remastered are already available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, allowing fans a chance to secure their entry into this expansive universe ahead of the official launch.
