Teenagers Navigate Challenges In Japan's Ultra Invincible Class

A special episode explores long-distance cycling and railway education among high school students.

The Japanese television program 超無敵クラス, which translates to "Ultra Invincible Class," focuses on the vibrant lives of teenagers in Japan, showcasing how they navigate unique challenges in their daily lives. This week’s episode features guests Tanaka Juri, a member of the popular group SixTONES, and the comedic duo Time Machine No. 3.

One of the standout segments is called Ultra Invincible Chari-Tsu Journey, where the show follows high school students who are commuting long distances, often by bicycle, to reach their schools. With around 5,000 high schools across Japan, many students face daily challenges that are overlooked by adults. This week’s spotlight is on Tomoya-kun, a student from Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture, who undertakes an impressive 34-kilometer round trip to school every day. The segment, reported by Kaira (Koki Takahashi), aims to depict the struggles and determination of these young commuters.

“I cried because I got hooked on the 'Chari-Tsu Journey' project, which became a trigger for me to get more involved in the 'Ultra Invincible Class' initiative,” shared Tanaka Juri, emphasizing the emotional connection he developed with the project. He, along with other guests, expressed admiration for the students who embody resilience and spirit.

The lead into another engaging segment, titled Railway Strongest Trio Akita Local Line Trip, presents students from the Showa Railway High School, one of only two institutions in Japan that specialize in railway technology and knowledge. These students are on a mission to photograph trains of seven different colors in just one day, showcasing their commitment and enthusiasm for their study of railways.

During their previous adventure, they successfully captured images of purple and red trains, leaving anticipation for whether they can achieve their ambitious goal this time around. The students' excitement about the vibrant colors and the logistics of their photography journey is palpable, making it an appealing segment for viewers.

Yamamoto Koji, a member of Time Machine No. 3, commented, “The kids involved in commuting are charming,” which perfectly encapsulates the heartwarming essence of the stories portrayed in these segments. The show skillfully balances humor and heartfelt moments, providing insights into teenage life that resonate with audiences of all ages.
