On March 20, 2025, an enthusiastic crowd gathered at the Provincial Library in Tay Ninh, Vietnam, as the library, in collaboration with the City Culture, Sports and Information Center and the Tay Ninh Youth Union, hosted a vibrant book introduction contest in celebration of International Day of Happiness. The theme for this year was "Happiness for All,” attracting widespread participation from city officials, civil servants, and local youth.
The event kicked off with the attendance of notable figures including Mr. Le Quang Chanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Ms. Pham Thi Cam Nhung, the Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Library. Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion and its alignment with promoting a reading culture.
The contest saw the participation of nine teams, each comprised of 3 to 5 members from various wards and communes across the city. Contestants engaged in three competitive rounds which tested their knowledge and creativity. The first round featured multiple-choice questions focusing on diverse topics related to happiness, families, marriage, and love, while the second round involved decorating bookshelves, allowing teams to showcase their artistic flair.
In the final round, teams introduced books that resonated with the theme, sharing powerful messages about love, sharing, and fostering happiness within the community. The event was not only a testament to the teams' knowledge but also a platform emphasizing the significance of literature in nurturing emotional wellness.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners, where Ward 1 took home the first prize for their exceptional presentation and bookshelf decoration. Meanwhile, second prizes were awarded to the teams from Hiep Ninh Ward and Ninh Thanh Ward, and three third prizes were given to the teams from Ward 3, Ward IV, and Binh Minh Commune. Furthermore, Hiep Ninh Ward and Ward 1 received special mentions for best bookshelf decoration and best book introduction, respectively.
Mr. Chanh noted the importance of such events in promoting reading among youth and said, “This contest not only encourages reading but also helps cultivate a culture of knowledge and appreciation for literature among students and young people.”
The contest aimed to diversify reading habits and foster a love for books among students and young adults in the province, highlighting the need for inclusive approaches to education and personal growth.
The event was a resounding success, fostering camaraderie among participants and spectators alike, and serving as a reminder of the role that literature and knowledge play in enhancing community bonds and personal well-being. In light of growing interest, this inspiring initiative sets the stage for future literature events that are both educational and celebratory.
