With the Lunar New Year approaching, Taipei City is witnessing a surge of employment opportunities, particularly aimed at temporary positions and high-paying jobs. From January 6 to January 10, the Taipei City Employment Service Office hosted on-site recruitment events featuring 25 different companies across various sectors, significantly addressing the job market demands during this festive season.
During the recruitment campaign, conducted at locations including Jingmei, Neihu, Beitou, and Ximen, the city offered a total of 1,721 job openings—a remarkable count aimed at job seekers needing full-time, part-time, or seasonal employment. These events not only target traditional sectors like hospitality and retail but also include new-age opportunities within public bicycle rental services and security sectors.
Among the participating businesses were major players like YouBike, Mister Donut, Taipei Floral Company, and numerous others. Taipei City’s Department of Labor emphasized the importance of these job fairs as they directly connect job seekers with employers, facilitating interviews and discussions about job roles.
高寶華 (Gao Baohua), the Director of the Department of Labor, articulated, "To promote the matching of hiring companies and job seekers and allow job seekers to gain insight on company developments and employee welfare." This direct engagement allows potential employees to ask questions and gain valuable insights about the companies and the nature of the work.
One of the notable companies participating, the Taipei Floral Company, opened up 86 short-term positions dedicated to preparations for the Lunar New Year celebrations. These roles include tasks such as sorting flowers, handling logistics, traffic guidance, and organizing transport carts, with pay rates set between 210 to 230 NTD per hour.
High-paying positions have also caught the interest of many, particularly from companies such as 米塔集團 (Mita Group) and 六角國際 (Six Corner International). For example, the Mita Group announced 20 openings for managerial chef and store manager roles with salaries ranging from 43,000 to 48,000 NTD. Similarly, Six Corner International offered salaries for aspiring managerial positions of 45,000 to 58,000 NTD, commensurate with their experience and skill levels.
Other lucrative roles include management positions from 食趣國際 (Food Fun International), where team leaders earn between 47,900 to 50,900 NTD, and various support roles with salaries starting from 40,000 NTD. Each of these positions presents lucrative opportunities for those who are ready to step up their career paths during this peak hiring season.
Employers participating in the job fairs were rigorously vetted by the labor department to assure job seekers of stable and positive working environments, especially focusing on companies without significant labor disputes or layoffs. According to the Employment Service Office, "job matching services are completely free, and participating allows applicants to secure interviews directly with recruiters and company representatives, easing the pressure of standard applications."
The Taipei City Employment Service Office has made the necessary informational resources available through the OKWORK website, where job seekers can find details about upcoming recruitment events and also contact them via their employment service hotline.
This year’s recruitment effort is not just about filling vacancies; it’s about supporting the local economy during one of Taiwan's most important celebrations—the Lunar New Year. By providing substantial employment opportunities during this period, the Taipei City government aims to reduce unemployment and encourage economic stability. Job seekers are urged to take advantage of these unique opportunities as they navigate their career paths.
