Students Protest Alleged Sexual Assault At TecMilenio Monterrey

Outrage grows as school faces accusations of negligence and insufficient response to claims of abuse.

Students at TecMilenio, Campus Las Torres, Monterrey, voiced their outrage on Friday, March 14, 2025, following allegations of sexual abuse against one of their classmates, identified only as Rudy, who suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The alleged assault reportedly occurred on March 11, 2025, within the school's bathroom facilities, where Rudy was attacked by five fellow students.

The protest unfolded at the main entrance of the campus, with students carrying expressive banners and demanding justice. Angered by the school's perceived negligence, they voiced their frustration over the administration's alleged failure to respond adequately to the horrific allegations. According to student testimonials, rather than acting against the alleged assailants, the school initially suspended Rudy for three days, ostensibly for defending himself during the incident.

Social media exploded with outrage as images of the purported scene emerged, showcasing blood stains on the floor where the assault occurred. Eyewitness accounts detailed how the attackers had not only assaulted Rudy physically but had also taken photographs and videos of the act, intensifying the grotesque nature of the crime.

During the protests, students expressed their apprehensions directly to school administration. A notable sentiment among the protesters was the belief they were unfairly targeted, doing little to support the victim. “They expelled the one who was attacked. The student leaders did nothing,” stated one participant of the protest.

A meeting transpired between students, parents, and Alejandra Preciado, the school principal. Parents criticized the lack of communication from the school's leadership, demanding immediate action against the aggressors pending investigation. Preciado countered, asserting they had not yet received any formal complaint and denied any suspension of the victim. This dismissal has only fueled the students' belief the administration is shielding the attackers.

Following the tumultuous gathering, students vandalized portions of the building with messages of protest to highlight their discontent with the handling of the situation. The school had noted on Friday, March 14, 2025, via official communication, plans to conduct classes virtually, though they refrained from issuing any statements directly addressing the incident.

The response from local authorities came quickly, with agents from the Nuevo León Attorney General's office arriving on campus to investigate. Reports, unfortunately, indicated they were initially barred from accessing the premises, raising concerns about the transparency and thoroughness of the forthcoming investigation.

The Governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, weighed in on the proceedings, condemning the alleged abuse and calling for immediate and decisive action to clarify the situation. "About what happened at TecMilenio, I inform you I am aware of the case, and we are already in contact with the relevant authorities and the school administration to help clarify the case. Victims in Nuevo León have our full support, and we will follow up until what happened is clarified and, if there were any crimes, those responsible are punished,” he posted on social media. This statement has provided some reassurance to the concerned community, which insists on justice for the victim.

The incident has ignited extensive discussions across social media platforms, wherein several students and members of the community have shared their concerns over the event's management by school authorities. Many parents have echoed these feelings, pushing for increased safety measures and accountability from the educational institution. Despite the challenges, activism among the student body reflects their commitment to seeing justice served not only for Rudy but for any other potential victims of abuse within the school.

A mixed response from the administration has included attempts to encourage restraint against spreading unverified information on social media, arguing such actions might harm all involved. Yet, students firmly believe transparency is necessary, demanding open conversations about the incident and comprehensive safety measures going forward.

The TecMilenio administration continues to grapple with the tumult surrounding these events. Despite claims of following their established protocols to protect student welfare, the outcome of this incident will undoubtedly shape how the school community navigates challenges related to safety and student support for years to come. The coming days will be pivotal as scrutiny heightens and continued calls for accountability emerge from the concerned student body and the broader community.
