Stellantis has officially unveiled its new line of heavy-duty trucks for the 2025 model year, marking a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing the demands of commercial fleet operators. Ram Heavy Duty now includes the 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups as well as the 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs, all boasting improvements aimed at performance, comfort, and technology.
This innovative lineup showcases the results of Stellantis' strategic reconfiguration of its commercial vehicle business under the Ram Professional umbrella. Emphasizing versatility and operational ease, the updated trucks come with enhanced capabilities and new features to cater to the needs of serious users.
The crowning achievement of the new Ram Heavy Duty lineup is the introduction of the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine. This powerplant not only provides strong performance with 430 horsepower but also delivers an incredible torque rating of 1,075 lb-ft. "More than 70 percent of Ram heavy-duty customers opt for the diesel, and for 2025 we built on..." said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Ram brand.
This turbo diesel engine is coupled with the advanced TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission, improving towing capacity up to 36,610 pounds. Previously, maximum towing was only offered with higher axle ratios. Now, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty trucks can achieve this with more fuel-efficient configurations, satisfying the high expectations of fleet operators.
“This is a very specific pickup segment...every 2025 Ram 2500 we sell allows...1075 lb.-ft. of torque in every gear,” Kuniskis added, emphasizing the truck's capability.
Another notable feature is the complete overhaul of the truck's transmission system, which recognizes the load state of the vehicle and allows for smooth operation even when unladen. Standard on all models, this enhances user experience significantly, making these trucks easier to drive and operate even under demanding conditions.
The exterior of the trucks received modern updates including new LED lighting and updated grilles based on trim level. The interiors have been similarly modernized with Ram's latest Uconnect 5 system, now featuring touchscreens of up to 14.5 inches. Further, the onboard inverter provides access to 2.4 kilowatts of power through outlets located conveniently around the vehicle, making it simpler to power tools and equipment on job sites. “120-volt outlets...that’s going to be needed on the job site,” remarked Doug Killian, Development Chief for Ram Trucks.
For operators needing additional support, the Ram Heavy Duty features innovative technologies such as adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning, and Drowsy Driver Detection systems built-in for enhanced safety.
To ease the driving process when towing, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty trucks also offer advanced trailer reverse steering control and Trailer Tow Pages for comprehensive monitoring, ensuring operators have all the necessary information at their fingertips.
Overall, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty lineup positions itself to be especially appealing to commercial fleet buyers, providing them with options previously unavailable on the market. The trucks will start arriving at dealers later this quarter, priced from $47,560 for the 2500 Heavy Duty models and $48,565 for the 3500 lineup.
Tim Kuniskis succinctly captured the essence of the new additions when he stated, “The Ram Chassis Cab line...designed and engineered to run at maximum capability all day, every day.” These trucks not only exemplify innovation and improved functionality, but they also promise to meet the rigorous demands of commercial users, striving to solidify Ram's reputation as the backbone of business on the road.
