Spring Hair Trends: Transform Your Look This Season

From butterfly cuts to vibrant highlights, discover the top four hair trends for long hair this spring.

As spring approaches, many are eager for transformation—whether it's relocating, starting a new job, or embarking on family life. For those looking for subtler changes, a trip to the hair salon may be the perfect remedy. Tania Götz, owner of a Zurich salon, shares the top four hair trends for long locks this season.

One trend that continues to gain traction is the Butterfly Cut, which had already become popular in 2024. “I still cut many layered haircuts with lots of volume,” Götz explains. She also emphasizes using more curlers and round brushes for styling, noting, “Everything that adds volume is hip.” This very trend mirrors what many fans of singer Sabrina Carpenter have adopted as her signature look.

Notably, layered haircuts combined with bangs à la Carpenter are expected to dominate the hair scene as Götz adds, “Straight hair is taking a back seat, while blowouts remain a major theme.”

In terms of color, highlights in various forms are projected to be a huge trend this year. Götz points out that whether it's bright strands framing the face, individual accents in the hair, or the stylish Mèches reminiscent of actress Jennifer Aniston, highlights are back with fervor. “In summer, many people typically want to lighten their hair,” she notes, suggesting that the influence of Carpenter extends even into color trends.

Götz observes a resurgence of the side parting, once frowned upon a few years ago, now trending again despite the middle part still being quite acceptable. On the runway, designers like Prada have showcased side partings paired with tousled styles, demonstrating the trend's comeback.

Another intriguing entry into the spring hair trends is Manga Hair. Defined as a niche yet sought-after style, it features extreme layering around the face and bold color accents. Götz recounts, “I have some clients asking for it.” Celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga recently sported hard edges described as a softened version of the Jellyfish Haircut, in which the top hair is cut short and voluminous. She adds, “I haven’t had anyone ask for the extreme version seen on social media yet.”

As stylistic preferences evolve, the appeal of higher volume and layered appearances will dominate the spring season. With exuberant looks echoing the vibrancy of the new season, these trends promise to excite hair enthusiasts everywhere.
