Sport Club Do Recife Announces Key Football Management Changes

The club aims for modernization with Carlos Brazil and Luís Fernando Goulart at the helm of football operations for upcoming seasons.

Sport Club do Recife is making significant strides to strengthen its football management with the recent appointment of Carlos Brazil as the new football manager and the return of Luís Fernando Goulart as performance coordinator. Announced on October 26, 2023, at the club's training center, Ilha do Retiro, these changes are part of the club's commitment to professionalization and administrative restructuring.

Carlos Brazil arrives at Sport Club do Recife with an extensive background, having previously worked with prestigious clubs, including Vasco da Gama, Flamengo, Corinthians, and Botafogo. Most recently, he served as the manager of football at Azuriz-PR. His vast experience is seen as invaluable for the club, as Brazil is expected to collaborate closely with the existing management to shape the team's lineup for the state championship and later for the Série A of Brazilian football.

Following Brazil’s appointment, Luís Fernando Goulart has also returned, having previously held positions at the club during the 2015 and 2018 seasons. Known for his expertise, Goulart will now serve as the coordinator of performance and is set to take over from Anselmo Sbraggia, who departed following the conclusion of Série B.

"I am excited to contribute to building our squad for the upcoming state championship and the Série A," Brazil emphasized during his presentation, highlighting his dedication to enhancing the club's competitive edge.

These appointments signal Sport's commitment to improving both its on-field performance and operational effectiveness. Goulart, who has built a solid reputation working with various clubs throughout Brazil—such as Vila Nova, Juventude, Atlético Goianiense, and Fluminense—will focus on advancing physical and technical performance initiatives for the athletes.

Further restructuring includes the announcement of Guilherme Falcão as the head of the football department for 2025. He will work alongside André Figueiredo, who is also set to take the executive football role. This new leadership aims to instill fresh ideas and strategies to navigate the challenges of the upcoming seasons.

Raphael Campos, who will step up as Vice-President Executive from 2025, and João Marcelo Barros, who will have new responsibilities within the club, will no longer be part of the football management. This signifies a significant shift as Sport Club do Recife looks toward building a future anchored in administrative efficiency.

"These appointments reaffirm our commitment to the pursuit of excellence both on and off the field," representatives from the club stated, underscoring the ambition driving these strategic changes.

The restructuring within the football department reflects Sport Club do Recife’s vision to modernize its operations, optimize sports management, and strive for success on the pitch, generating excitement as fans anticipate what the next season will bring.

With new leadership and clear objectives, the club is poised to reclaim its standing within Brazilian football, reflecting the aspirations of both management and supporters alike.
