Skibidi Toilet Arrives To Fortnite: Meme Collaboration Unveiled

Epic Games merges viral humor with new skins and items before Winterfest 2024.

The world of Fortnite never fails to surprise us, and this time, Epic Games has truly outdone itself. The viral Skibidi Toilet meme is making its way officially to Fortnite, bringing toilet-themed cosmetics to the popular battle royale on December 18, 2024.

This collaboration arrives just before Fortnite's annual Winterfest event, which begins on December 20. Launched by the animated YouTube series created by DaFuqBoom, Skibidi Toilet features characters whose heads emerge from toilets, all set to catchy tunes. With over 70 episodes and the main video surpassing 50 million views, it's become part of internet culture, especially gaining traction among younger audiences.

Epic Games confirmed this collaboration through their official Fortnite X account, teasing fans with emojis of toilets, plungers, and cameras. Players can look forward to purchasing several bathroom-themed items as part of this unusual collaboration.

Here’s what the Skibidi Toilet bundle offers and how much it costs:

  • Full Bundle: 2,200 V-Bucks which includes the Plungerman outfit, two back bling, and Plungerman's Plunger Pickaxe.
  • Individual Items:
  • Plungerman Outfit with Skibidi Backpack for 1,500 V-Bucks
  • Skibidi Toilet Back Bling for 600 V-Bucks
  • Plungerman’s Plunger Pickaxe for 800 V-Bucks

Buying the full bundle saves players 700 V-Bucks compared to purchasing items separately. If you want just specific items, you can buy them separately from the Item Shop, which refreshes at 7 PM ET on December 18.

It’s worth noting the timing—this release coincides with Winterfest, which historically brings exciting cosmetics and potential free rewards for players. The question many players are asking is: will they get the Skibidi Toilet skins or hold onto their V-Bucks for holiday skins?

This isn’t the only marketing endeavor Epic Games has employed recently. Since June 2024, they’ve been pouring resources and promotional efforts toward certain creator experiences on Fortnite Creative, boosting user traffic significantly.

Epic’s campaign included specific experiences from third-party studios like “Lumberjack Heroes,” “Havoc Hotel,” and “Mercenaries.” Promotional efforts were executed with trailers launched on the official PlayStation YouTube channel and paid advertisements by various influencers across platforms like TikTok and Twitch. Following these campaigns, concurrent user counts surged dramatically, as creators sought to leverage the game’s increasing popularity.

“Fortnite creators have the ability to submit their islands for consideration across promotional opportunities,” said an Epic spokesperson. Although the creators involved expressed surprise at their promotion, the support they received resulted in substantial increases of user engagement.

Nonetheless, questions arose about how Epic decides which experiences get marketing attention versus others on the platform. Margot Rodde, founder of the Fortnite Creative studio Creators Corp, mentioned the hesitation many studios feel. “We have to focus on what we know is the less-risky bet,” she expressed.

The creators have acknowledged the need for transparency from Epic about the selection process, which often favors easy hits over more innovative, albeit risky, endeavors. “If there was some transparency about what they’re willing to support, we could explore more,” Rodde added.

Referring to Fortnite's potential as more than just another battle royale, Gareth Leeding from the marketing company Livewire noted, “I don’t think of Fortnite as merely a game—I see it as gaming.”

This encompasses everything from tycoon games to first-person shooter modes, with unique experiences being key to broadening the appeal of the platform. If Epic wants to transform Fortnite Creative from its traditional offerings to something closer to the expansive metaverse, it might require pushing for greater creativity among its user base.

Hence, this collaboration with the Skibidi Toilet series exemplifies Epic's use of popular culture to drive engagement and establish unique offerings within Fortnite. The availability of these items starting December 18, right amid the excitement of Winterfest and holiday events, captures players' attention and bolsters community interactions.

So, are you going to grab the Skibidi Toilet skin? Players are invited to weigh in, and who wouldn't want to dress up as a hilariously viral meme character?
