"I never cried and always tried to appear strong in front of others from the day I received the diagnosis until the night before surgery," he recalled. The fear of not awakening from surgery, or waking to a life forever altered, overwhelmed him, leading to moments of vulnerability when he could no longer maintain his facade of strength.
Muratore's recovery was fraught with difficulties, requiring him to relearn fundamental skills such as speaking, walking, running, writing, reading, and counting. He described it as akin to being reborn, starting from scratch. Although he made progress, some days were so grueling he struggled even to get out of bed. Yet through sheer determination, he aimed to return to football.
Despite his relentless hard work and commitment, Muratore eventually had to face the truth: he could not return to the level of play or physical condition necessary for professional sport. He stated he was grateful for the opportunities he had to play with exceptional athletes and champions, noting, "I was fortunate to play with extraordinary players, and I am thankful for everything accomplished on the pitch with teammates who later became friends."
The attacking midfielder took the time to express his gratitude to his family for their unwavering support throughout his tumultuous experience.
