ServusTV, the Austrian private broadcaster known for its innovative programming and high-quality production, has wrapped up another successful year with exciting new content set for winter 2024. Among the standout offerings is the documentary series titled "Die Flugretter – Notruf in den Alpen," which highlights the challenging work of air rescue teams operating throughout Austria.
According to ARA Flight Operations Manager Herbert Graf, the demand for their helicopter rescue teams has surged, particularly during nighttime operations and outside of their home regions of Carinthia and Tyrol. Last year, the three rescue helicopters of ARA Flugrettung responded to 2,425 calls, demonstrating their pivotal role across the Alpine regions. "The possibility of winch recovery at night makes us a highly sought-after partner for complex rescue operations when darkness falls," Graf explained. This efficiency substantially reduces risks for rescuers on the ground and minimizes the time required for the mission.
Four episodes of "Die Flugretter" were filmed by ServusTV crews, with the first installment airing on January 9th at 8:15 PM. The episodes follow real-life missions, such as the crew of the RK-1 helicopter responding to a ski accident involving a young boy who needed to be hoisted from steep terrain. The show promises to deliver authentic portrayals of the crews’ efforts, with no staged scenarios involved. "Our teams have solely accompanied genuine missions. Nothing is insincere," remarked Valerie Mölzer, Communication Manager at ServusTV.
The series has already captured the attention of both audiences and rescue personnel. "We've managed to create the perfect mix of necessary sensitivity and impressive, emotional imagery," said Thomas Jank, CEO of ARA Flugrettung, as he praised the collaboration. Part two of the documentary will air on January 16, focusing on winter missions, with additional episodes scheduled for summer 2024 featuring spring and summer rescue operations.
Another highlight of ServusTV’s winter programming is their daily weather segments, which spotlight meteorological events from breathtaking locations across the Alps. The ServusTV meteorologists not only provide forecasts but also offer insight on why weather changes occur, captivating viewers with both beauty and education.
Adding to the excitement is ServusTV's adaptation of the popular format "Bares für Rares," now reimagined for Austrian audiences. This show features curious artifacts and long-forgotten treasures, presenting them to expert appraisers. Each episode follows host Willi Gabalier as he facilitates negotiations between sellers and potential buyers, combining humor, surprise, and engaging storytelling.
Despite changes over the past year, ServusTV remains committed to providing exhilarating sports coverage, particularly for MotoGP fans. With the transition of linear broadcasting operations halting in Germany at the year's end, the station has forged partnerships to continue delivering key racing events. Thanks to cooperation with DF1, viewers will still have access to live broadcasts of twelve selected MotoGP events, including the 2024 season scheduled with 22 races. Regular coverage will remain available to Austrian audiences, with key commentators such as Christian Brugger and Philipp Krummholz leading the broadcast.
Overall, ServusTV is set to captivate viewers with its remarkable programming, from gripping documentaries and exciting sports to diverse cultural offerings. At every turn, the network is focused on delivering compelling stories and unique viewing experiences, ensuring there's something for everyone this winter and beyond.
