Marcel Boloș, Romania's Minister of Investments and European Projects, is poised to embark on a crucial journey to Brussels this week, where he will advocate for significant increases in funding aimed at bolstering the nation's economy and supporting vulnerable citizens.
On March 23, 2025, Boloș announced his plans for this visit, during which he aims to propose an additional €50 million through regional programs to assist young people and vulnerable groups in Romania. Furthermore, he is advocating for the allocation of around €150 million to enhance the competitiveness of the Romanian economy by investing in critical technologies and supporting the domestic industry amidst the evolving European market trends.
“We will propose the European Commission to supplement with approximately €50 million, through the eight regional programs, to support vulnerable people and young people at the beginning of their careers, as well as to allocate approximately €150 million to stimulate the competitiveness of the Romanian economy through investments in critical technologies,” stated Boloș.
This funding initiative aligns with the overarching goals of the Policy of Cohesion, which provides for €45 billion intended for promoting balanced and sustainable development across all Romanian regions. Out of this total, around €30 billion consists of non-refundable European funds, underscoring the significance of EU support in national development efforts.
