Richard Sherman’s Family Targeted In Home Invasion Robbery

The former NFL star pleads for public help after armed intruders threaten his family during a terrifying break-in.

Richard Sherman, the former NFL star and Super Bowl champion, faced a terrifying ordeal when his home was robbed at gunpoint while his wife and children were inside. In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on March 31, 2025, Sherman detailed the harrowing experience that unfolded just a day before his birthday.

According to Sherman, the incident occurred on March 29, 2025, and involved multiple armed intruders. He posted surveillance images showing three masked men inside his Washington state home, with one appearing to carry a gun and a duffle bag. "House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift," Sherman wrote, emphasizing the fear that gripped his family during the incident.

Fortunately, Sherman reported that his family is safe but “very shaken up.” In his post, he praised his wife, Ashley Moss, for her composure during the frightening encounter. "Scary situation that my wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe. If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out," he urged his followers.

Moss also took to social media to describe the traumatic experience. She recounted waking up to find intruders outside her bedroom, expressing her anger and disbelief. "People are so sh–ty! Come in my house middle of the night with guns and threaten my family!!!" she wrote on her Instagram Story. Moss shared a video showing the intruders breaking into their home through a window, timestamped to the night of March 29.

The couple has two children, Rayden, 10, and Avery, 8. Moss reassured their friends and followers that they were physically okay but emotionally rattled. "Waking up to intruders outside your bedroom with a gun is something no one should have to experience. Like I said, they tried the wrong people! We WILL find you!" she vowed.

Law enforcement confirmed that they are investigating the incident, labeling it an “open and active investigation.” As of March 31, the accused robbers remain at large, prompting Sherman and Moss to seek the public's assistance in identifying the intruders. The surveillance video they shared shows the men moving through the kitchen and living room of their home, a chilling reminder of the invasion of their privacy.

This incident follows a troubling trend of burglaries targeting high-profile athletes. Just months prior, the FBI had urged professional athletes to enhance their home security measures due to a series of break-ins at the residences of notable players, including two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. Federal prosecutors recently charged seven suspected members of a Chilean theft ring responsible for similar crimes, as they systematically targeted athletes while they were away at games.

In the case of Sherman, the former Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers cornerback, the timing of the robbery was particularly unsettling as it coincided with his birthday celebrations. Sherman had been in Las Vegas celebrating his 37th birthday when the break-in occurred. He has since transitioned into a broadcasting role, serving as an analyst for Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" after retiring from the NFL in 2021.

In light of the distressing event, Sherman has emphasized the importance of community support and vigilance. He shared several images from the surveillance footage, asking anyone who might recognize the intruders to come forward. "Another video if anyone recognizes them or has any info please reach out," he posted, hoping to gather leads that could assist law enforcement in their efforts.

The couple's experience has sparked conversations about safety and security among public figures. Many are now calling for increased awareness and preventive measures to protect families from similar threats. The emotional toll of such an incident is profound, as Sherman and Moss navigate the aftermath of this traumatic experience.

As the investigation continues, Sherman’s plea for help resonates with many who empathize with the fear and vulnerability that come with such violations of personal space. The couple's resolve to find the intruders reflects a broader desire for justice and safety in their community.

In the coming days, as more information becomes available, the focus will remain on ensuring the safety of families like Sherman’s and addressing the larger issue of crime targeting athletes and public figures. The community's response could play a crucial role in bringing the perpetrators to justice and restoring a sense of security for those affected.
