Reuben Owen has opened up about his childhood experiences growing up on the popular television series Our Yorkshire Farm. The 21-year-old farmer, who has recently landed his own series titled Life in the Dales, appeared on Sunday’s episode of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh on April 6, 2025.
The original series Our Yorkshire Farm, which launched in 2018, showcased the daily life of Clive and Amanda Owen along with their nine children on a remote sheep farm in Yorkshire. The show concluded in 2022 following the divorce of Amanda and Clive. Despite the end of the family’s flagship series, Amanda Owen has remained in the public eye, featuring in shows such as Amanda Owen's Farming Lives and Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids. She has also made appearances in Reuben’s new series.
During his appearance on Love Your Weekend, host Alan Titchmarsh, 75, asked Reuben about his upbringing on the farm. "Did it feel idyllic when you were growing up or were there times where it was... well it was obviously a hard graft at times I guess!" Titchmarsh inquired. Reuben responded with a blend of nostalgia and humor, saying, "It had its times where it was hard but overall an amazing place to live and grow up, I've had some great times there." However, he jokingly added, "I think the worst thing about it is the weather!"
Reuben continued to share fond memories of his childhood, stating, "Other than that, it was a brilliant place to grow up!" He also reflected on the unique experience of growing up in front of the cameras. "I've kind of known it since I was very young and it's brought all sorts of opportunities. So I've always kind of enjoyed doing it! It seems whenever anything goes wrong, a camera turns up!" he remarked.
Fans of Our Yorkshire Farm are buzzing with excitement as the future of Reuben's solo series, Life in the Dales, has been confirmed. Although a release date has yet to be announced, behind-the-scenes photos featuring Reuben and his colleagues have surfaced. Recently, he was spotted filming in Whitby, where a local fish and chip shop shared images of him, his girlfriend Jessica, and his workmates enjoying a break.
The post, which was also shared on a fan page dedicated to the Owen family, depicted Reuben and his friends smiling for the camera during what appeared to be a well-deserved respite. This has only fueled the anticipation surrounding his upcoming series.
In addition to Reuben's new show, Channel 4's Our Farm Next Door, which features Amanda, Clive, and their children, is also preparing for its second series, ensuring that the Owen family will continue to be a fixture on television.
