Renfe has announced significant changes to its Cercanías Madrid services due to improvement works on the railway infrastructure, affecting lines C2, C7, and C8. These disruptions will take place between April 29 and May 4, 2025, as Adif undertakes necessary upgrades to enhance safety and efficiency.
During this period, nearly 700 buses will be deployed to ensure mobility for passengers affected by the service interruptions. The bus services are designed to cover critical routes between various towns, including Guadalajara, Azuqueca, Alcalá de Henares, and Torrejón de Ardoz.
On April 29 and 30, train services will be completely halted between Guadalajara and Azuqueca. However, travelers heading to or from Guadalajara or Azuqueca will still have access to train services between Meco and Alcalá de Henares. This temporary arrangement aims to minimize the inconvenience for users during the initial phase of the disruption.
From May 1 to 4, the service interruption will extend to include the entire route between Guadalajara and Alcalá de Henares. Notably, although the Alcalá de Henares station will remain operational for trains arriving from or departing to Madrid's Atocha and Chamartín stations, the Soto del Henares and La Garena stops will be out of service during this time.
To facilitate travel during the disruption, Renfe has established three special bus services:
- SE1 Guadalajara – Azuqueca – Meco: This service will operate on April 29 and 30, with departures starting at 5:00 AM from Guadalajara until 12:40 AM from Meco. Buses will run every 10 to 20 minutes.
- SE2 Alcalá de Henares – Torrejón de Ardoz: Running from May 1 to 4, this service will depart from Alcalá at 5:55 AM and from Torrejón at 12:20 AM, stopping at La Garena and Soto del Henares, with a frequency of 20 minutes.
- SE3 Guadalajara – Alcalá de Henares: Also operational from May 1 to 4, this bus service will run from Guadalajara at 5:30 AM to Alcalá at 12:35 AM, making stops in Azuqueca, Meco, and Alcalá Universidad, with buses every 15 to 20 minutes.
In addition to these services, Renfe is enhancing customer support at affected stations. Staff members will be available to assist travelers with information regarding the special bus services, including the locations of bus stops and alternative transportation options.
Renfe has communicated these changes through various channels, including signage, public announcements at stations, their website (www.renfe.com), social media (@CercaniasMadrid), and their customer service hotline at 912 320 320. The company has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and emphasized that these improvement works are essential for providing a safer and more efficient service in the future.
As the railway network undergoes these important upgrades, passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and utilize the available bus services during the disruptions. Renfe remains committed to ensuring that travel continues as smoothly as possible during this period of necessary infrastructure improvement.
