Former Belgian international Radja Nainggolan has been arrested as part of a significant cocaine trafficking investigation, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Monday. The arrest, taking place on January 27, 2025, marks Nainggolan's fall from grace, just as he was making headlines for his return to competitive football.
Belgian federal police executed around 30 searches across Brussels and Antwerp as part of the operation, leading to the seizure of 2.7 kilograms (approximately six pounds) of cocaine, along with large sums of cash and luxury articles. Nainggolan’s club, Lokeren-Temse, expressed its surprises at the situation: "The club respects the presumption of innocence and cannot comment at this moment... We can only confirm the player was absent from training this morning," they stated.
