Qatar National Sport Day 2025 Celebrates Community Through Fitness

Events across Doha engage citizens in fitness challenges and promote healthy lifestyles.

Doha, Qatar: Media City Qatar brought the community together for its National Sport Day 2025 activation, ‘Ready, Set, Next,’ held at Msheireb Downtown Doha, Sikkat Wadi. The event welcomed participants of all ages and fitness levels, celebrating fitness, fun, and community spirit.

“Media City Qatar is redefining how sport, technology, and creativity come together to drive national priorities on National Sport Day. By bringing people together through interactive experiences and digital innovation, we’re helping communities across Qatar embrace healthier, more connected lifestyles,” said Kholoud Al Saai, Head of Event & Conference Management at Media City Qatar.

Attendees participated in a series of interactive fitness challenges, scanning QR codes to access guided exercises led by prominent Qatar-based influencer and renowned sports broadcaster, Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari, a former professional tennis player who energized the crowd and inspired active participation. The exercises, ranging from wall push-ups to tricep dips and various sport zone activities, were easily performed using body weight or everyday structures such as walls, stairs, or benches.

Part of the event included conducting online raffles, where one lucky winner, Renalyn Genciana, received two VIP tickets to the ONE 171 Championship, which is scheduled for February 20, 2025. Utilizing technology for seamless navigation, electronic raffle draws, instructional videos led by influencers, and interactive sport zones, the initiative demonstrated how physical activity can be seamlessly integrated throughout daily life.

The event also highlighted the dynamic spirit of Msheireb Downtown Doha, set to be the future home of Media City Qatar. Meanwhile, H E Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al Thani, the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), took part yesterday, participating in various sports activities as part of the National Sport Day celebrations.

The financial sector’s employees participated enthusiastically in the events held by the QCB, marking their commitment to fostering community well-being through sports and physical activity.

QIIB also partook actively, joining the Central Bank’s sports activities, underscoring its dedication to contributing to initiatives adding value to the Qatari society. Dr Abdulbasit Ahmad Al Shaibei, QIIB’s CEO, was present, alongside senior executives and employees who joined the Central Bank’s Sports Day activities and took part in a sports march along Doha Corniche.

On this occasion, QIIB encouraged its customers and followers through SMS messages and social media channels to engage in regular physical activities and adopt healthy lifestyles, emphasizing their positive impact on both individuals and society as a whole. Dr Al Shaibei stated: “This day is an opportunity to reaffirmthat sports are for everyone and represent a way of life filled with achievement and well-being.”

He added, “National Sports Day is a moment to renew our collective commitment to serving and building our community in the best possible ways. It is our duty to keep pace with Qatar’s remarkable advancement in sports, as the country has truly become a distinguished sports capital.”

This sentiment was echoed as Dr Al Shaibei highlighted QIIB’s structured and continuous support for Qatari sports, noting the bank has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Qatar Football Association, making it the main sponsor of the Amir Cup and the National Teams for three years starting from February 2024. This sponsorship aligns with the Third Financial Sector Strategy of the Qatar Central Bank, emphasizing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and the bank's role supporting the community, reflecting Qatar National Vision 2030.

According to Dr Al Shaibei, “National Sports Day serves as a reminder of the various dimensions of sports. Besides being physical activity, sports fosters social, humanitarian, and cultural interactions having a significant economic impact.” Employees and executives of QIIB who participated expressed satisfaction with being part of this initiative, considering it invigorates not just individuals but also reinforces societal values centered around health and well-being.

They emphasized such events play pivotal roles not only for health improvement but also for fostering interactions and collaboration among diverse cultures, transcending language and cultural barriers, thereby knitting closer community ties.

Altogether, Qatar National Sport Day 2025 underscored the spirit of unity, health, and cultural exchange, propelling the nation closer to its vision of vibrant society where sports serve as pivotal elements of cultural and personal development.
