Rappers Unite For 'MOGURA - Inspired Songs' Release

The EP, inspired by the ABEMA drama, features collaborations exploring themes of struggle and hope.

On February 13, 2023, the highly anticipated EP titled 'MOGURA - Inspired Songs' will be released, featuring collaborations from notable rappers related to the ABEMA original drama '警視庁麻薬取締課 MOGURA.' The final episode of this six-part series will air at 11:00 PM on February 13, with the music dropping at midnight.

'警視庁麻薬取締課 MOGURA,' produced by the renowned broadcast writer and scriptwriter Suzuki Osamu, is inspired by the real-life experiences shared by rapper Han-a.k.a. GAMI three years ago. The drama follows police officers with rap skills who infiltrate rapper collectives to tackle illegal drug issues.

Previously, the drama's original song 'MOGURA - Barefoot' was released on January 10, serving as the show's opening track. The imminent EP comprises four tracks, including this hit, showcasing messages drawn from the theme of the drama as conveyed by the featured rappers.

The collaboration includes the distinctivestyle of Han-a and Red Eye with their track 'Once Again (feat. Red Eye),' the innovative sound of CYBER RUI with 'ASH FREESTYLE,' and the dramatic collaboration of Mummy-D and ELIONE, featuring 'The Light - Nameless Beast (feat. ELIONE).' These songs not only reflect the drama’s narrative but also present the individual styles of the artists involved.

The EP highlights how diverse artists came together under the influence of the gripping drama, weaving their artistic expressions through hip-hop culture. Each track encapsulates components of struggle, aspiration, and the undercurrents of contemporary society.

Further engaging the audience, the music video for 'MOGURA - Barefoot' is set to premiere on February 14 at 6:00 PM on ABEMA HIPHOP's official YouTube channel. This will be preceded by the release of a teaser video showcasing expressions from lead artists Han-a, G-k.i.d, and Jin Dogg against the backdrop of the drama’s opening theme.

The music video, directed by Nan Tora, who also led the drama's direction, promises to deliver visual storytelling intertwined with the EP's musical energy. The teaser, released on February 10, has already generated excitement, hinting at the depth and cinematic essence anticipated from the full release.

This collaborative effort demonstrates not only artistic synergy among the participating rappers but also sets the stage for innovative multimedia narratives where music and drama coexist harmoniously.

Ahead of this release, fans can expect to experience not just lyrics, but stories rooted deeply within the fabric of both the music and the visual storytelling of the drama.
