Police Seek Witnesses After Armed Robbery At Rema 1000

Investigations reveal suspect descriptions as community urged to assist amid rising crime rates.

The Fyns Politi are intensifying their investigation following two separate armed robberies at Rema 1000 stores. The first incident occurred on December 29, 2024, around 8:23 PM at the Rema 1000 located at Jernbanevej 1, where the assailant threatened the cashier with a knife.

According to the police, the robber demanded cash by ordering the employee to raise their hands and give him money. He fled the scene carrying stolen cash inside a blue Rema 1000 bag. Police collected DNA evidence at the crime scene, which is currently being analyzed. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the robbery to come forward with information.

The suspect is described as male, between 18 and 25 years old, with light skin and a slim build. He wore a black jacket with white logos and dark clothing, including jeans and sneakers, and had his face partially covered with a scarf and a hood pulled over his head. Witnesses reported seeing him running west along Svinget, then onto Østergade and Kongsgaardsvej, heading toward the roundabout at Idrætsvej. The police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and encourage locals to check their cameras for any clues.

Fyns Politi are particularly interested if anyone saw anything suspicious around the time of the robbery or lives along the suspect's escape route, which might have captured footage of his activities. They have highlighted specific scenarios where community assistance could be invaluable, such as noticing unusual behavior near the store or hearing discussions about the robbery.

The second incident, which involved two masked individuals attempting to break open the store's safe at another Rema 1000 location on Sdr Omfartsvej 2, occurred shortly after midnight. According to police commissioner Peter Skovbak, the suspects broke open the back door and mounted an attempt to steal the company's safe using ropes tied to their vehicle. Their efforts were unsuccessful, and they departed the scene without the safe, but they managed to leave with around 20 cartons of cigarettes.

Police are still determining how loud the break-in was, hoping witnesses may have noticed something unusual during the attempted theft. Skovbak stated, "It must have made some noise, and someone may have seen something. We would very much like to hear from them." The community is again being urged to report any suspicious behavior to aid the investigation.

Despite securing DNA evidence from the first robbery, the police acknowledge the importance of witness information to strengthen their case. Individuals with any insights can contact Fyns Politi by dialing 114. The investigation continues with optimism for resolution as local law enforcement seeks justice for these crimes.
