Poland Gears Up For Constitution Day Celebrations

Cities across Poland plan diverse events for May 3 festivities honoring national pride and unity.

As Poland prepares to celebrate its Constitution Day on May 3, 2025, various cities across the nation are organizing events to honor this significant occasion. The day, which commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of May 3, 1791, will be marked by a series of ceremonies and festivities highlighting national pride and unity.

In Częstochowa, Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC, President of the Episcopate of Poland, has extended an invitation to all to join the main celebrations at Jasna Góra. "May 3 is a special holiday for us Poles. It is the feast of our Queen – the Queen of Poland," he emphasized in a special invitation. The Archbishop will preside over a Mass at 11:00 AM, with participation from the Conference of the Episcopate of Poland. He noted the importance of Mary as a guiding figure for the nation, saying, "We know that Mary has accompanied us for so many centuries as a queen, as a guardian, leading our nation to her Son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must experience this holiday, entrusting all our matters to her, the matters of our homeland, our families, and ourselves." The celebrations will also mark the end of the 40-year II pilgrimage of the Jasna Góra Icon copy through Polish dioceses, with a meeting of the Council of Permanent KEP taking place on May 2.

Meanwhile, in Mysłowice, Mayor Dariusz Wójtowicz is inviting residents to commemorate Labor Day, Flag Day, and Constitution Day together. The celebrations will kick off on May 1, 2025, with a flower-laying ceremony at 10:00 AM in the Powstańcza Strefa Pamięci. The following day, residents can participate in the ceremonial raising of the flag at Park Promenada at 10:00 AM. On May 3, activities begin early with a flower-laying ceremony at the T. Kościuszko monument on Mickiewicza Street at 9:00 AM, followed by a mass for the Homeland at the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 9:30 AM. After the service, there will be a march and another flower-laying ceremony at the monument of Cardinal August Hlond on Plac Wolności, accompanied by the KWK Mysłowice-Wesoła Brass Band.

Sochaczew is also gearing up for expanded celebrations of Constitution Day. This year, the city will host a picnic on Kościuszki Square from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, featuring attractions for children such as cotton candy, face painting, and patriotic music. At 12:00 PM, a flag-raising ceremony will take place, followed by a flower-laying ceremony at the figure of the Resurrected Christ near St. Wawrzyńca Church. A mass for the homeland will follow at 12:30 PM, and at 1:30 PM, there will be a concert by the Sochaczew Land Singing Society. At 3:00 PM, the Museum of the Sochaczew Land will host a lecture titled "The White and Red Flag Over Berlin" presented by Director Radosław Jarosiński.

In Jawornik Polski, the day will be commemorated with a program that includes a mass for the homeland, wreath-laying at the Katyn plaque, a gun salute, speeches, and artistic performances by children and youth. The celebrations will also feature a dance party with live music, providing a festive atmosphere for the community.

These events reflect a deep-rooted tradition of honoring the Constitution and the values it represents, including freedom, unity, and national pride. As communities across Poland prepare for these celebrations, they embody the spirit of remembrance and gratitude for those who fought for Poland's independence.

As the nation gears up for these significant events, it is a moment for all Poles to reflect on their history and the importance of unity in celebrating their national identity. The upcoming festivities promise to foster a sense of community and pride, drawing citizens together in a shared appreciation of their heritage.
