Pogoń Szczecin has made headlines by securing two new signings, Brazilian Renyer and Chilean Benjamin Rojas, demonstrating its strong ambitions for the upcoming season.
According to reports from local media, the club, under the new leadership of president Nilo Effori, announced the acquisition of both players on the same day, underlining the swift action taken to bolster their roster mid-season.
Renyer, who is only 22 years old, has previously played for Santos FC, turning professional at just 16 years old. The young forward is known for his versatility, able to perform both as a midfielder or forward. After dealing with knee injuries sidelining him for considerable time during his career, he joined Guarani FC but was released and became a free agent prior to signing with Pogoń. His contract with Szczecin lasts until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Rojas, another promising talent, has signed with Pogoń until the end of the 2024/25 season, with the possibility of extending his contract. Rojas, who has topped his career with appearances for CD Palestino and has shown potential as both right-back and center-back, is also 23 years old. Known for his solid defensive skills, Rojas emerged from the youth ranks of Palestino, where he made his first-team debut against Universidad Catolica.
Rojas’s career had faced similar setbacks due to injuries, but his performances have warranted national selections at the under-20 level for Chile. His experience includes loan spells at other clubs but his recent stint left him without a club until Pogoń secured him.
The double signing is viewed as part of Pogoń's broader strategy to strengthen their squad, especially as they eye the league standings where they currently sit fifth, five points behind leaders Lechia Poznań. There is significant enthusiasm from fans and pundits alike over the potential impact these players could have as the team moves forward.
The new vice president of the club, Karol Zaborowski, also hinted at possible future acquisitions, indicating Pogoń's intent to remain aggressive during the transfer window.
Pogoń's recent activity is not just about present performance but also reflects long-term planning under Effori's new management, aiming to integrate more talent and stabilize the squad heading forward.
Given the competitive nature of the league, both Renyer and Rojas will be expected to quickly adapt and contribute significantly, offering hope to supporters who are eager for success this season and beyond.
