Pennsylvania Farm Show 2025 Welcomes Visitors Despite Cold Weather

The annual event runs through January 11, showcasing local agriculture with diverse attractions and ample parking options.

The annual Pennsylvania Farm Show, kicking off January 4 and running through January 11, 2025, is once again transforming Harrisburg's Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, drawing crowds eager to engage with the state's vibrant agricultural community. This year, under the theme "Powering Pennsylvania," the event showcases numerous attractions, from live animal displays to unique food vendors.

For those planning to attend, the Farm Show Complex is located at 2300 N. Cameron St., just off Interstate 83, making it easily accessible for visitors traveling from various regions. With the event's popularity, attendees should be well-prepared for parking and potential wait times. Multiple parking lots are available, featuring nearly 3,000 spaces at the complex itself, but officials warn these could fill up quickly, especially during peak hours.

If the on-site parking is full, do not despair! An additional 3,000 spaces are available off-site on Elmerton Avenue. There might also be parking opportunities at the nearby HACC campus and the PA Department of Agriculture building on weekends. Attendees can enjoy the convenience of free shuttles from locations such as the Harrisburg Capitol Complex.

Parking facilities charge $15 for all vehicles, accepting only credit cards, so make sure to bring your card with you—the show doesn’t accept cash. Handicapped parking is also provided, accommodating various mobility needs, as attendees can be dropped off at four designated entrances throughout the complex.

Despite the frigid temperatures reaching as low as 10 degrees with wind chill on the opening day, visitors pushed through the cold to explore the event. Jennifer Hudgins, visiting with her two children, was already showing signs of excitement as they spotted animals throughout the complex. “We must always get milkshakes and see the butter sculpture,” she enthusiastically shared. “We like to see the ducklings. We like to see the pigs. We like everything.” Her sentiments are echoed by many who return year after year for the unique attractions at the Farm Show.

On the event's opening day, attendees were treated to various displays, including the popular Highland Cow kissing booth. Exhibitors reported strong attendance and high traffic, particularly on weekends, which are traditionally the busiest days of the show. Vendors like Debbie Taxacher from the Original Strudel Factory noted, “Saturday is gangbusters. Monday may see snow, leading to slower crowds, but we expect visitors to return as the week rolls on.”

The event also serves as a significant gathering point for local and state dignitaries. Pennsylvania’s House Agriculture Chair, Glenn Thompson, highlighted the importance of the Farm Show during the opening ceremony, stating, “What an exciting time. I encourage you to take it all in. This Farm Show, I’ve come to the conclusion, lasts so long because there is so much to see.” His remarks reflect the essence of the show, inviting all to take advantage of the offerings over multiple days.

Inside the complex, the enthusiasm for local agriculture was palpable. Vendors lined hallways, providing myriad foods and products, making the Farm Show not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable for families and agriculture enthusiasts. Crowds swelled around food courts, where the famous milkshakes and other local delicacies drew eager visitors, all ready to sample the best Pennsylvania has to offer.

With snow predictions hanging over the week's events, including potential slowdowns on Monday, organizers remain optimistic about the overall impact of the show. The Pennsylvania Farm Show promises to deliver another year of rich agricultural education, spectacular food, and unforgettable family memories.

Whether it's the anticipation of seeing livestock, trying local delicacies, or participating in numerous activities, the Pennsylvania Farm Show remains integral to celebrating the state's agricultural tradition. Plans to curb congestion, ample parking options, and the memorable exhibits make it worthwhile for both first-time visitors and long-time fans.
