Ola Electric Integrates Krutrim AI To Boost Services

Bhavish Aggarwal unveils plans for AI chips and enhanced user experience during event

On August 15, during the ‘Sankalp 2024’ event held in Bengaluru, Ola Electric made headlines by announcing the launch of Krutrim, the AI venture started by its founder, Bhavish Aggarwal. The integration of Krutrim with both Ola Electric and Ola Cabs marks a significant step forward for the company.

Initially launched in December 2023, Krutrim recently reached unicorn status with a valuation of $1 billion. This milestone was achieved following substantial investments, including funding led by Matrix Partners India, which is known for backing several of Aggarwal's ventures.

At the event, Aggarwal emphasized India's potential to become a leader in future technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. He pointed out, “India has a unique opportunity to become a global superpower in technologies of the future such as AI,” citing the country's vast data resources and skilled workforce.

Through the Krutrim platform, Ola plans to introduce its first AI chips by 2026, named Bodhi, Sarv, and Ojas for various computing tasks. These chips will support over 10 trillion parameters, aiming to bolster AI system capabilities.

Krutrim is also enhancing customer interaction with Ola through its AI customer care tools. Designed to cater to the distinct needs of Indian users, this digital assistant can perform various tasks, including scheduling, information retrieval, and even meal planning.

Aggarwal also announced plans for Ola's infrastructure, including the establishment of a 1-GW data center by 2028, increasing its current capacity significantly from 20 MW to support anticipated growth. This investment is part of Ola's broader strategy to bolster its technology backbone and accelerate the adoption of AI.

The new automated systems set to launch will also include dark stores for easier inventory management and faster deliveries. These tech-driven warehouses will be available for various businesses, enabling improved service through enhanced logistics.

Ola has also relaunched its share ride feature, rebranded as Ola Consumer, which aims to expand its offerings beyond mere ride-hailing. This service will be commencing operations initially from Bengaluru, with plans for broader implementation soon.

The integration of Krutrim AI with Ola Electric scooters will enable advanced features like Group Navigation on Ola Maps, facilitating better coordination for group rides. Such innovations are part of Ola's commitment to enhancing user experience through technology.

Over 25,000 developers have already utilized Krutrim Cloud, showcasing the platform's rapid acceptance within the tech community. The Krutrim chatbot has garnered more than 10 million users since its launch in early 2024, showcasing the growing demand for AI-driven solutions.

Since its introduction, Krutrim has processed 250 billion API calls, emphasizing its strong operational performance and capability. Aggarwal also highlighted the ambition to offer Rs 100 crore worth of cloud services free until Diwali, which is likely aimed at attracting more users to the platform.

The overall strategy includes improving automation and leveraging AI to meet rising demands across many sectors, not limited to mobility solutions alone. This comprehensive approach signifies Ola's intent to lead innovation and efficiency within India's rapidly evolving tech ecosystem.

Krutrim's AI services aim to break language barriers by supporting communication across ten different Indian languages, reflecting India's diverse population. Ola's strategic vision, as expressed by Aggarwal, centers around making advanced technology accessible to every Indian.

With these ambitious developments, Ola is set to redefine its role within the tech and transportation sectors. By combining AI advancements with innovative service offerings, The company's future looks promising and aligned with global tech trends.

Aggarwal concluded with confidence, expressing hope for making consumption accessible to all Indians, emphasizing the goal of not just focusing on mobility, but extending the reach of technology comprehensively.
