Netflix has officially launched its highly anticipated entertainment program, Devil's Plan: Devil's Room, on May 6, 2025, at 4 PM KST. This season, featuring an upgraded format and a star-studded lineup, promises to be more intense than ever before.
Devil's Plan: Devil's Room is a survival game where 14 players from various professions compete over seven days to determine who possesses the ultimate brain. The show is a sequel to the first season, which debuted in September 2023 and captivated audiences globally with its thrilling competition and psychological warfare. The previous season ranked first in South Korea's Netflix Top 10 series, made it into the Top 10 in 23 countries, and secured the third position in the Global Top 10 TV Show (Non-English) category.
The new season, under the guidance of 'Brain Survival Master' Jeong Jong-yeon, introduces a more ruthless format dubbed 'Devil's Room.' This season expands the prison concept from the first season into a full-fledged prison block, intensifying the stakes for the players. In a brutal twist, players who are eliminated from the main match will be split into two groups: the top half will move to the living quarters, while the bottom half will face elimination in the prison.
Each night in the prison's 'Devil's Room,' elimination matches will occur, heightening the survival game’s ferocity. This structure adds a layer of class division, as players must collaborate for survival yet will ultimately have to betray one another in the race for victory. The first main match will set the tone for the season, determining which players will be sent to the prison based on their performance.
The cast for this season includes a diverse array of contestants, each bringing unique skills and backgrounds to the table. Notable participants include Lee Si-dol, the legendary Go player who famously defeated AlphaGo; actor Justin H. Min, known for his roles in popular Netflix series like The Umbrella Academy; and Kyuhyun, a member of the K-pop group Super Junior and a musical theater performer.
Other contestants include Kang Ji-young, a former announcer who has passed the U.S. CPA exam; Yoon So-hui, an actress and KAIST graduate; Seven High, a professional poker player and music producer; and Lee Seung-hyun, a university student and Miss Korea contestant. Also joining the competition are Jeong Hyun-gyu, an influencer with a Mensa IQ of 156; Choi Hyun-joon, a model and KAIST graduate; and Chu, a singer with eight years of experience in the industry.
In addition, the lineup features Kim Ha-rin, a plastic surgeon; Park Sang-yeon, a gold medalist from the 2021 International Physics Olympiad; Son Eun-woo, a mergers and acquisitions lawyer; and Tino, a board game master. These contestants were selected from over 1,000 applicants, promising a thrilling battle of wits and strategy.
As the competition unfolds, viewers can expect to see not only a clash of intellects but also a dynamic interplay of alliances and betrayals, with relationships among players shifting dramatically based on the outcomes of the matches. The psychological warfare will be a key highlight, as contestants navigate the treacherous terrain of trust and deception.
Episodes 1 through 4 were released on May 6, 2025, with subsequent episodes planned for release on a weekly basis. Episodes 5 through 9 are set to be released on May 13, 2025, followed by episodes 10 through 12 on May 20, 2025. This staggered release schedule aims to keep audiences engaged and eager for the next installment of the series.
