Music Station Super Live 2024 Delivers Unforgettable Performances

The annual year-end event highlights top artists and spirited performances, uniting fans across Japan.

The 'Music Station Super Live 2024,' broadcast on December 27, 2024, on the TV-Asahi network, captivated audiences with remarkable performances from various popular artists. This year, the annual music special showcased incredible talent and festive energy, reinforcing its status as one of Japan's holiday season highlights.

Among the featured acts was Number_i, comprised of members Shoyo Hirano, Yuta Jinguji, and Yuki Kishi. This trio debuted their first song, "GOAT," earlier this year and performed "INZM (Hyper Band ver.)" during the show. Their vibrant performance energized the audience, signaling their rapid rise within the J-pop scene.

Another crowd favorite, Snow Man, made waves by performing two songs: "SBY" and "Brother Beat." The performance of "SBY" was particularly notable as it serves as the theme song for the upcoming film "Theatrical Version: Trillion Game," set to premiere in 2025 and was first showcased during their concert at Tokyo Dome on December 15. The anticipation around this new track added to the performance's excitement and connection with fans.

Also captivating viewers was MISAMO, made up of Japanese members Mina, Sana, and Momo from the renowned group TWICE. They covered Namie Amuro’s classic hit "NEW LOOK" alongside their latest lead track from their second mini-album "HAUTE COUTURE" titled "Identity." Their dynamic staging and refined choreography left a lasting impression on the audience.

Parallel to the performances, touching interactions between artists added to the event's charm. During his segment, INI's Hikuto Nishia revealed his long-standing friendship with RIIZE's Shoutarou before the performances. He commented on the peculiar coincidence of sharing the stage now, stating, "It's strange to be performing together after knowing each other since before our debuts!" Shoutarou played along, inviting Nishia to grab dinner, highlighting the camaraderie between up-and-coming artists.

Aiko, the beloved singer-songwriter, also shone during the broadcast. Engaging with host Tamori, she shared memorable moments from earlier this year involving Snow Man's Daisuke Sakuma. She recounted how he expressed admiration for her overalls, humorously noting, “I still have them vacuum-sealed because I couldn't bear to let them go!” This played up her quirky personality and drew many smiles both onstage and within the audience.

The event featured 60 different artist groups, each promising lively performances, creating a festival-like atmosphere. Viewers tuning in felt the thrill of witnessing some of their favorite acts live. There were performances from established names alongside newer talents, making it not just a concert but also a celebration of the genres and artists shaping Japan's musical scene.

Among the notable highlights was the performance by "Stray Kids," whose energetic routine invigorated the audience. Their set was likened to witnessing powerful live band skill paired with exceptional choreography, leaving many fans exhilarated and yearning for more. Their popularity continues to skyrocket, making their presence at the Super Live iconic.

Another highly talked-about moment was the unexpected delays experienced by Snow Man, who had to apologize to the audience as they arrived late to their scheduled performance slot. Despite the hiccup, their performance was well-received, showcasing their resilience and professionalism. Fans expressed both concern over the delay and admiration for their ability to bring the energy and excitement once they hit the stage.

With diverse performances and artist interactions fostering connections within the industry, "Music Station Super Live 2024" certainly lived up to expectations, demonstrating why it remains one of the most-awaited events of the year.

The night not only celebrated music but also brought together artists past and new, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the Japanese entertainment industry. Fans across the nation were treated to unforgettable performances, and social media platforms buzzed with excitement as viewers shared their favorite moments and artists.

This year's event proved to be another successful installment of the beloved music tradition, setting high hopes for future performances as fans and artists alike look forward to next year's phenomenal showcase.
