Moscow Celebrates Cultural Splendor With Major Events This February

From circus performances to creative workshops, the city's offerings cater to diverse interests and communities.

The vibrant cultural scene of Moscow is set to dazzle audiences with spectacular events taking place this February, including the 75th-anniversary celebration of the legendary clown performer Yuri Kuklachev and engaging arts workshops.

On February 21, 2025, the Vyborgsky Culture Center will host daytime and evening performances of the jubilee tour titled 'The Kindest Clown.' This event marks not only Kuklachev's milestone anniversary but also serves as the culmination of the celebrations surrounding this iconic figure within the world of circus arts. Audiences can expect to experience the joy, laughter, and applause generated by famed Russian artists such as Yuri Kuklachev himself, Dmitry Kuklachev, and Vladimir Kuklachev, along with accomplished illusionists, equilibristes, jugglers, acrobats, and aerial gymnasts.

The two-hour multi-genre show will also feature popular performers, including the Eastern diva Aziza, pop star Andre, actor and television presenter Timur Yeremeev, and talented young vocalist Maria Lonina, who emerged as a standout at the 'New Wave' children’s festival. The program will showcase highlights from the 'Theater of Cats,' which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Under the direction of Dmitry Kuklachev, the performance will merge multiple acts representing circus, variety, songs, feline tricks, and theatrical vignettes from the legendary father's biography.

According to Yuri Kuklachev, the audience's ability to witness this show has been limited, typically showing only once every few years exclusively in Moscow. 'Now, we are taking this program for the first time to cities across Russia,' he shared, illustrating the broader outreach of this celebratory performance.

Anticipate surprises and original acts created especially for this occasion, including hits beloved worldwide, such as the iconic sketch 'The Cat and the Chef.' This exciting blend of amusing sketches, breathtaking stunts, captivating illusions, spellbinding songs, and energetic dances is set to reunite families and deliver vibrant emotions and unforgettable impressions.

The performance serves as a special gift to all attendees, more significantly for those guests invited by Kuklachev without charge. Families of military personnel, large families, children from orphanages, and other socially vulnerable groups will receive complimentary tickets, showcasing Kuklachev's commitment to social support and community enhancement.

Notably, the celebratory event will feature around 200 cats on stage, breaking from the typical 20-30 participants, ensuring the performance is worthy of recognition by the Guinness World Records. This unprecedented tour is made possible through the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

Meanwhile, on February 23, art enthusiasts can take part in the creative workshop 'NEO,' inviting participants to paint the charismatic hero from the iconic film 'The Matrix.' Scheduled for 2:00 PM, this workshop caters to adults and teens, making it the perfect gift for upcoming festivities on Defender of the Fatherland Day.

All materials will be provided, including canvases of two sizes at varying prices: 2,100 rubles for the 30x40 cm canvas and 2,400 rubles for the larger 40x50 cm format. Participants must pre-register to secure their spots for this artistic experience.

With events like 'The Kindest Clown' performance and the 'NEO' painting workshop, Moscow's cultural calendar for February 2025 promises to engage, entertain, and inspire audiences from all walks of life.
