Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive its first free Title Update on April 4, 2025, and it brings a slew of new content designed to enhance the gaming experience for fans worldwide. From new monsters to social spaces, the update promises to keep players engaged with fresh challenges and rewards.
The highlight of this update is the introduction of Mizutsune, a graceful leviathan that attacks opponents with its signature debilitating bubbles. This monster can be hunted starting at Hunter Rank 21. To unlock this challenging new hunt, players need to speak with Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp. Additionally, an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune will also be part of this update, elevating the stakes even further.
Another significant addition is the Arch-tempered Rey Dau, set to appear in an Event Quest on April 30, 2025, for players at Hunter Rank 50 or above. This powerful iteration of Rey Dau offers an exhilarating challenge that veteran players will find enticing. Successfully defeating this monster will allow players to forge new Rey Dau gamma armor sets, further improving their combat capabilities.
The update also sees the return of the fearsome Zoh Shia. Previously a one-time quest during the story, Zoh Shia will now be a repeatable encounter for players at Hunter Rank 50 and above after April 4, 2025. Players can gather materials from this monster to create new high-rank equipment for both themselves and their Palicos.
Moreover, the update introduces the Grand Hub, a brand-new social space for hunters. To gain access, players must reach Hunter Rank 16 and talk to Tetsuzan in Suja, the Peaks of Accord. In the Grand Hub, players can interact, communicate, and participate in a variety of new activities, including the exciting Barrel Bowling mini-game, where players roll barrel bombs into targets to earn useful items and pendants.
Not only does the Grand Hub serve as a social space, but it also features the Squad Information Counter, which moves from the Windward Plains Base Camp to allow hunters to conveniently manage their squads. Additionally, the entrance to the Grand Hub includes the Expedition Record Board, where players can check leaderboard rankings for Arena Quests.
Speaking of Arena Quests, these will also return with this update, allowing hunters to compete using predetermined equipment for the fastest completion times. Players can take part in both Arena Quests and Challenge Quests (limited to two players) and Free Challenge Quests (which can accommodate up to four players). The latter can be attempted without equipment restrictions, encouraging unique combinations and strategies among hunters.
In addition to exciting quests and monsters, this update will grant hunters the chance to dress up their handler, Alma, by offering a new outfit and the ability to change her glasses. A free outfit will be available to all players, enhancing the aesthetic options for those who enjoy personalizing their game experience.
Moreover, many classic Monster Hunter gestures return as free downloadable content, adding extra fun for players. The Cosmetic DLC Pack 1, which includes various cosmetics, will also be available for purchase for those looking to enhance their game further.
Players can also look forward to the upcoming Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, set to run from April 22 to May 6, 2025. This seasonal event will feature unique decor and exclusive items to collect, ensuring that players have fresh experiences to enjoy during the festivities.
Looking ahead, Capcom plans to release Free Title Update 2 this summer, which promises to include collaborations with other titles and additional exciting features. The anticipation builds as players eagerly await more news about the new content being developed.
All in all, Monster Hunter Wilds' first Title Update offers a wealth of new content, from formidable challenges to vibrant social spaces, aptly aiming to keep the community of hunters engaged in thrilling adventures. Happy hunting!
