The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has opened registration for the much-anticipated Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH SET) 2025 beginning February 24, 2025. Aspiring candidates can apply until March 13, 2025, through the official website, setexam.unipune.ac.in. Those who miss this deadline have the option to register with a late fee of Rs 500 from March 14, 2025, to March 21, 2025.

According to the official notice, applicants must complete the online application carefully, as only those forms submitted digitally will be accepted. A printed copy of the form should be retained for future reference and must not be sent to any Coordinated Centre or the SET Department at SPPU.

To apply, candidates can follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit setexam.unipune.ac.in.

  2. Click on the registration link on the homepage labeled “Apply for M-SET held on 15th June 2025.”

  3. Register and fill out the application form with the required details.

  4. Upload the necessary documents and pay the application fee.

  5. Verify all details and submit the form.

The application fee is structured as follows: for candidates belonging to the general category, the fee is set at Rs 800, whereas candidates from reserved categories will pay Rs 650.

The MH SET 2025 exam is scheduled to take place on June 15, 2025, across various centers including popular locations such as Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, and Goa. The exam comprises two papers. Paper 1 evaluates candidates' reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Each question carries two marks, with 50 questions total. Paper 2 focuses on the candidate's chosen subject and consists of 100 objective-type questions. Similar to Paper 1, each question is worth two marks, and there will be no negative marking.

According to the official guidelines, candidates are required to score at least 40% on the overall test (35% for reserved categories) to pass, which is necessary for gaining eligibility for assistant professor positions at universities and colleges throughout Maharashtra. A Master’s degree recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is mandatory for participants.

Before the exam, candidates will be able to download their admit cards approximately 10 to 15 days prior to the exam date, allowing time to resolve any issues or questions. Candidates are advised not to wait until the last moment to complete their applications to avoid any hassles closer to the deadline. With the registration window now open, all eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to secure their opportunity to participate in MH SET 2025.
