The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has officially announced the results for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class 12 exams on May 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM. This year, a total of 1,427,085 students registered for the exams, with 1,417,969 appearing for the tests conducted between February 11 and March 11, 2025. The overall pass percentage stands at 91.88%, reflecting a slight decline from last year’s 93.37%.

Students can access their results online through several platforms, including mahahsscboard.in, mahresult.nic.in, hscresult.mkcl.org, and results.digilocker.gov.in. To check their scores, candidates will need to enter their roll number and their mother’s first name.

For those unsatisfied with their results, the board has set a deadline of May 20 for students to apply for verification of marks and re-evaluation. However, before applying for re-evaluation, students must first obtain photocopies of their answer sheets by paying a separate fee.

This year, the Konkan division topped the results with a pass percentage of 96.74%, followed by Kolhapur at 93.64%, and Mumbai at 92.93%. The performance varied across different streams, with the science stream achieving the highest pass percentage at 97.35%, while the arts stream recorded a pass percentage of 80.52%.

In total, 1,302,873 students successfully passed the exam, with 149,932 achieving scores of 75% or above. Additionally, 407,438 students scored between 60% and 74.99%, and 580,902 students fell within the 45% to 59.99% range. Notably, 36,133 private candidates registered for the exam, of which 29,892 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 83.73%.

As part of the board's initiative to support students, counselors have been appointed to assist those who may need guidance following the release of the results. Their contact information is available on the official MSBSHSE website.

Students are reminded that starting May 6, they can collect their original mark sheets and passing certificates from their respective school administrations. The board has also announced that students who fail one or two subjects can apply for additional exams under the Class Improvement Scheme, with opportunities available in June-July 2025, February-March 2026, and June-July 2026.

The Maharashtra HSC exams were conducted across nine divisions including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Amravati, Kolhapur, and Konkan, across a total of 3,373 centers. This year, the number of students who attained excellent marks in sports or Scout and Guide activities was 20,943.

For those looking to check their results via SMS, they can send a text formatted as "MAHHSC" followed by their seat number to 57766 to receive their results directly on their mobile phones.

As the MSBSHSE prepares for future examinations, including the upcoming SSC (Class 10) results expected by May 15, 2025, officials have emphasized the need for enhanced website capacity and security measures, especially given the high traffic experienced during result announcements. Maharashtra Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar has directed officials to conduct regular load testing and prepare reports on the current website capacity to ensure a smooth experience for students accessing their results.

This year’s results mark a slight fluctuation in the overall pass percentage compared to previous years, with the following statistics highlighting the trends:

  • 2025: 91.88%

  • 2024: 93.37%

  • 2023: 91.25%

  • 2022: 94.22%

  • 2021: 99.63%

  • 2020: 90.66%

Despite the drop in pass percentage, the number of students scoring above 90% remains significant, with 4,500 students achieving this milestone. As students navigate their results, the board encourages them to reach out for support if needed, ensuring they have the resources to make informed decisions about their academic futures.
