Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is making headlines with the recent signing of American big man Trevion Williams from ALBA Berlin. After recording their 13th loss of the EuroLeague season, Maccabi is opting for change to invigorate their roster.
According to the Israeli news outlet ONE, Williams agreed to join Maccabi on a deal until the end of the 2025-26 season, with the current season’s contract also including an option for another year. Williams has been performing decently this season, averaging 10.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over 16 games, making him one of ALBA's standout players.
Upon the official announcement, Maccabi highlighted Williams’ diverse skill set, emphasizing his ability to handle the ball, shoot from distance, and create scoring opportunities not only for himself but also for his teammates. The towering 2.08 meters center, at just 24 years old, brings size and youthful energy to the frontcourt.

Born on September 16, 2000, Trevion Williams grew up in Chicago, where he displayed his skills from young age, playing pickup games with his father. He had standout performances during his high school career, including averaging 22 points and 25 rebounds per game and recording five triple-doubles, which earned him spots at numerous colleges. He chose Purdue University to develop his skills.
Williams’ college career was marked by perseverance, as he evolved from bench player to prominent starter, delivering notable performances such as scoring 35 points and grabbing 20 rebounds against Michigan. He was recognized as the Sixth Man of the Year within the Big Ten Conference during his senior year.
After college, Williams began his professional career with the G-League, first with the Santa Cruz Warriors and later with Capital City Go-Go. His standout play brought him to the German team Ulm, where he excelled, showcasing averages of 15 points and 11 rebounds per game and ranking first across the EuroCup competition. His success led to his signing with ALBA Berlin, where he shone brightly in the EuroLeague, impressing many with performances like 23 points and 11 rebounds against Milan, or 28 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals against Bayern.
