Arjen Lubach's New Show Strijder Set For Videoland Release

The cabaretier's song Ledikant debuts as part of his return to television with RTL.

Arjen Lubach, the well-known Dutch cabaretier and schrijver, has officially stepped back onto the stage with his new production, titled Strijder, set to premiere on Videoland starting December 28. On Sunday afternoon, Lubach released his song Ledikant (Dit is mijn Nederland) on YouTube, which he describes as "an ode to the hypocrisy" prevalent in today's society. The song will also be available for streaming starting Monday, adding to the buzz surrounding his upcoming show.

This latest venture marks Lubach's first production on Videoland since announcing his transition to RTL, where he plans to start creating daily satirical programs about current events with his entire team from De Avondshow. Over the past two years, Lubach has been busy touring across the Netherlands, performing 131 sold-out shows and captivating over 100,000 people with his engaging performances.

The anticipation for Strijder is high, thanks to Lubach's history of insightful commentary mingled with humor. His recent remarks about Ledikant resonate deeply as he seeks to dissect contemporary issues through his work. "This song is my ode to hypocrisy," he stated, reflecting on the layers of meaning behind his lyrics and the campaigns he aims to explore through his performances.

The show Strijder isn't just another addition to Lubach's repertoire. It signifies the beginning of what many fans hope will be innovative programming aimed at tackling pertinent social issues. The path leading to Lubach's current role at RTL has not been without its challenges—program director Peter van der Vorst revealed, "It took at least five years to get Arjen to RTL." This long-awaited collaboration promises to deliver fresh content to viewers, emphasizing the importance of satire within the media.

Throughout his performances, Lubach’s ability to connect with his audience has always been evident. The fact he has managed to play to over 100,000 attendees shows the significant impact he has made on Dutch culture. His shows often blend humor with sharp observations on societal norms and political topics, and Strijder aims to maintain this trend.

Looking forward, fans and newcomers alike are eager to see what the combination of Lubach's wit and RTL's platform can produce. With the release of his new song and the forthcoming show, it's clear Arjen Lubach is determined to keep his finger on the pulse of Dutch society—a quality that's endeared him to many.

With the stage set and anticipation growing, Strijder has the potential to not just entertain, but also provoke thought and discussion among audiences. Lubach's history suggests he has the capability to spark necessary conversations, making his return to television one to watch.
