Lebanon Faces Severe Weather Shift With Temperature Drops And Snowfall

Unstable conditions expected over the weekend with rising temperatures followed by icy roads and possible snow.

Lebanon is bracing for dramatic weather shifts as forecasters predict significant fluctuations in temperature and precipitation over the coming days. Starting this Saturday, residents can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures shooting up before taking a dip early next week.

According to the Lebanese Meteorological Services, the stable weather currently affecting the region will give way to marked changes, including the potential for rain and snowfall. The highest temperatures are expected on Saturday, which will gradually decrease and lead to colder conditions with frost forming on various terrains.

The meteorological forecast indicates Saturday will start with partly cloudy skies, rising temperatures across all regions—especially noticeable on mountainous terrains—while keeping nights chilly. Temperatures are set to plummet starting Sunday, when the forecast anticipates fog on higher peaks and occasional snowfall starting from elevations of 1,800 meters and above.

On Sunday, as the clouds gather, limited rain and snowfall is predicted, potentially mixed with thunder on warmer elevations. By Monday, the situation will worsen; the temperatures will continue to decline, creating the possibility of more precipitation, also likely of rain and snow at higher altitudes of around 1,600 meters.

Expected temperature ranges for the weekend are anticipated to vary: coastal areas typically from 9 to 17 degrees Celsius, with mountain regions experiencing temperatures between 3 and 12 degrees, and the inland areas from 4 to 11 degrees. The National Weather Service emphasizes caution against black ice forming on mountainous and inland roads during the overnight and early morning hours, noting temperatures may drop significantly.

Forecast details suggest potential daytime temperatures may see highs of 19 degrees Celsius across major regions like Beirut and Tripoli, before falling back again as the week progresses. With conditions expected to stabilize temporarily before more rain and colder weather sets back in by Wednesday, travel preparations may be necessary for those traversing mountainous routes.

The prediction of icy conditions on local roads serves as both warning and reminder for commuters and locals to remain vigilant as they navigate their daily travels to prevent accidents or injuries linked to slippery surfaces. Regional authorities may issue specific advisories as the situations develop.

Cold air masses coupled with moisture-laden fronts will contribute to unstable weather patterns, particularly as the Middle East experiences its usual winter variances. Reports highlight concerns of damaging frost, which can impede agricultural productivity, lead to delays, disrupt disruptions, and complicate transport, impacting broader community life.

A spokesperson for the meteorological agency remarked, 'Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and should prepare for changes accordingly,' alluding to the potential impacts of the colder weather on daily routines and safety.

Determined to keep citizens informed, Lebanon's weather bureau has committed to providing regular updates as patterns evolve, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for adverse meteorological phenomena experienced during winter months.

Overall, this upcoming period of weather disruption prompts community awareness and preparations among individuals and families to safeguard against the potential impacts associated with the anticipated snow and icy conditions.
