The Kuban economy has made significant strides, now ranking in the top three regions of the Russian Federation for accumulated growth rates, as highlighted in a recent meeting held in Anapa.
During an expanded Collegium meeting of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance of the Krasnodar Territory, held by Igor Galas, the First Vice-Governor of the region, various local officials gathered to discuss these impressive economic statistics. Key participants included Elena Pivovarova, Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service in the region, Vasily Shvets, Mayor of Anapa, and leaders from all 44 municipalities throughout Kuban.
Galas emphasized the region's growing significance within the national economic landscape, noting, "The region's contribution to the country's GRP increased to 3%. This is the result of coordinated work of the economic and financial block of the region, as well as all municipalities." This achievement marks the second consecutive year that Krasnodar has secured the sixth position among the economies of all subjects of Russia.
The reports indicated that the Kuban economy is not only sustaining its position but also performing remarkably well in key areas. For instance, over the past year, real wages in the region surged by an impressive 9.6%, reaching approximately 67,500 rubles. Moreover, the proportion of the population living below the subsistence minimum has dropped significantly to 8.3%, providing a more optimistic outlook for residents.
Unemployment figures are also encouraging, as the region now boasts historically low levels: a registered unemployment rate of merely 0.2% and an overall rate of 1.9%. These statistics reflect an economic environment conducive to job creation and financial stability.
In terms of fiscal performance, the region implemented 28 state programs in 2024 with a funding volume exceeding 516 billion rubles. Galas announced that for 2025, funding for these same state programs is projected to be nearly 613 billion rubles, a testament to the region's commitment to bolstering economic development and community welfare.
According to Galas, "The main task in 2025 is to maintain the trajectory of GRP growth of the territory at no less than 3% and to overcome the GRP target of 6 trillion rubles." This ambitious target indicates a strong determination to continue enhancing the region's economic profile and sustaining upward growth trends.
With ongoing support from local government and increased funding for state programs, the future appears promising for the Kuban economy. As local leaders continue to adapt to changing economic conditions, residents and stakeholders remain hopeful that these developments will lead to further prosperity.
