In a significant move for education in Indonesia, the Kota Bekasi and Kota Bogor regions have launched their respective Sistem Penerimaan Murid Baru (SPMB) for the 2025 academic year, aimed at streamlining the enrollment process for new students entering Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). As the deadlines approach, officials are urging prospective students to prepare their required documents meticulously.
On May 8, 2025, Samsu, the Head of the SMP Development Division at the Bekasi City Education Office, emphasized the importance of document preparation for the SPMB process. "Candidates for the SPMB in Kota Bekasi must ensure they have the necessary documents ready as these are mandatory for the SPMB stages," he stated during a socialization event broadcasted on the official Youtube channel of the Bekasi City Government.
He highlighted that the document upload period for the prapendaftaran (pre-registration) phase will run from May 13 to June 13, 2025. The SPMB itself will take place on June 23, 24, and 25, 2025. According to Samsu, the required documents are categorized into general and specific types. General documents apply to all candidates, while specific documents vary based on the registration path chosen by the candidates.
For those applying through the affirmative path, it is essential to include the Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) as a requirement. "Prepare the documents according to the path you choose for the SPMB. For affirmative applicants, DTKS must be included; otherwise, the system will reject the application," he noted.
Meanwhile, in Kota Bogor, the SPMB for SMP has also commenced, with the account creation for registration starting on May 5 and continuing until June 18, 2025. The selection of registration paths and schools will be available from June 2 to June 20, 2025. The registration process is conducted online via the SPMB Kota Bogor website.
According to a report by Tribunnews.com, there are four registration paths available: domisili (residence), afirmasi (affirmative), prestasi (achievement), and mutasi (mutation). General requirements for applicants include being no older than 15 years old by July 1, 2025, completion of elementary school (SD) or its equivalent, and possession of a Kartu Keluarga (Family Card).
The detailed registration process for Kota Bogor includes logging into the SPMB application, filling out personal data, uploading general requirements, and determining geographic coordinates. Verification and validation of the requirements will be conducted by the local civil registration office.
Key dates for the SPMB Kota Bogor include the following: account creation and distribution from May 5 to June 18, 2025; uploading general requirements during the same period; verification of these requirements by the civil registration office from May 6 to June 20, 2025; and the selection of registration paths and schools from June 2 to June 20, 2025. Additionally, achievement test candidates must participate in competency tests scheduled for June 23 to June 26, 2025, with results announced on July 1, 2025, and re-registration from July 2 to July 4, 2025.
The introduction of SPMB in both Kota Bekasi and Kota Bogor is part of a broader initiative to enhance educational access and streamline the enrollment process in Indonesia.
