ISLAMABAD, May 9 (APP): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the remaining matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 will now take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This significant decision comes in light of security concerns following an alleged attack targeting the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which prompted the board to prioritize player safety.
Originally, the final eight matches of PSL 2025 were scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore. However, with the recent events raising alarms, the PCB opted to shift the fixtures to the UAE. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his disappointment over the situation, stating, "It is our duty to protect the mental well-being and physical safety of all the players." He further labeled the attack as a "dangerous and irresponsible act" aimed at disrupting the ongoing PSL season.
The matches that will now be played in the UAE include key fixtures such as Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi, Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United vs Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans vs Quetta Gladiators. Furthermore, the playoffs, which consist of the Qualifier, Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2, and the Final, will also take place in the UAE. The PCB has assured fans that the exact schedule with updated dates and venues will be shared in due course.
Ticket holders for the matches in Rawalpindi have been informed of their options. Those with VIP Gallery and enclosure tickets can collect refunds from designated TCS Express Centres, while fans who purchased tickets online will receive automatic refunds to the accounts used during booking. This move is part of the PCB's commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining transparency with the fans.
As the PSL 10 enters its final phase, the league standings have become increasingly competitive. Quetta Gladiators have already secured their place in the playoffs, leading the points table with six wins, two losses, and one no result from nine matches. The Karachi Kings are currently in second place with 10 points, having clinched five wins and suffered three losses in eight matches.
Defending champions Islamabad United are closely following in third position, also with 10 points, boasting five wins and four losses from nine games. Meanwhile, the Lahore Qalandars sit in fourth place with nine points, having achieved four wins, four losses, and one no-result. Peshawar Zalmi holds the fifth position, accumulating eight points from four wins in nine matches. Unfortunately, Multan Sultans have been eliminated from playoff contention, managing only one win and suffering eight defeats in their nine matches.
The PCB has urged fans and stakeholders to support this decision in the interest of player safety and the successful completion of the tournament. The board remains committed to ensuring that the PSL continues to provide thrilling cricket while safeguarding all participants involved.
This season of the PSL has been marked by intense competition and thrilling performances, and as the tournament shifts to the UAE, fans are hopeful that the remaining matches will deliver the excitement they have come to expect from this premier cricket league. With the playoffs approaching, the stakes are high, and teams are gearing up for what promises to be an exhilarating conclusion to the season.
