As Kirov prepares to celebrate Victory Day on May 9, 2025, the city is implementing significant changes to public transport and traffic regulations to accommodate the festivities. The administration has announced that various streets will be closed or have restrictions in place to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the events.
From 05:00 to 15:00 on May 9, several bus routes will be altered due to road closures on Karl Marx Street and Lenin Street. Specifically, traffic will be halted along Karl Marx Street from Preobrazhenskaya Street to Spasskaya Street, and on Lenin Street from Preobrazhenskaya Street to Herzen Street. As a result, the following bus routes will experience changes: Route #2, Route #10, Route #14, Route #23, Route #39, Route #46, Route #47, Route #84, Route #90, Route #1, Route #3, Route #5, Route #21, Route #51, and Route #67. Trolleybuses #1, 4, 5, and 8 will also be suspended during this time.
In addition to the morning changes, further restrictions will come into effect later in the day. From 20:30 to 23:00, Profsoyuznaya Street will be closed to traffic from Lenin Street to the old bridge over the Vyatka River. The Slobodsky tract will also see restrictions from the bridge to Pavla Korchagina Street. During this period, bus routes #3, #5, #14, #15, #21, #39, #84, and #117 will be modified to accommodate the changes.
One of the most notable closures will occur at 21:00 when the old bridge is scheduled to close for a fireworks display, marking the culmination of the Victory Day celebrations. The city has made arrangements for a special bus service to transport passengers across the Vyatka River, ensuring that residents can still move between locations despite the road closures.
Moreover, Moskovskaya Street will also see restrictions, with the section from Teatralnaya Square to the Eternal Flame memorial complex completely closed to vehicles. This closure is part of a broader effort to manage the influx of attendees expected for the Victory Day events.
The administration urges residents and visitors to plan their travel accordingly and to stay informed about the changes. A detailed map of the traffic restrictions and public transport alterations has been made available for public viewing, ensuring everyone can navigate the city effectively during the celebrations.
As Kirov gears up for this significant day, the focus remains on honoring the sacrifices made during the war while ensuring that the festivities can be enjoyed safely by all. The city is committed to providing a memorable experience for everyone participating in the Victory Day celebrations.
