The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2025 unfolded at the Las Vegas Convention Center from February 25-27, showcasing the latest trends and innovations in the home design sector. Organized by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and produced by Emerald Expositions, this extensive trade show was buzzing with energy as over 55,000 industry professionals gathered to share insights, products, and inspirations.
Bill Darcy, Global President and CEO of KBIS and NKBA, expressed enthusiasm about the influx of attendees and brands, stating, "We’ve invaded the city with a lot of people and a lot of brands, and the energy was just amazing." He noted the growing global interest with new pavilions introduced for Italian, German, British, and Brazilian manufacturers, emphasizing the show's role as a significant platform for international brands seeking to penetrate the North American market. He remarked, "The trend we’re seeing is international manufacturers are looking at our trade show as the place to reach the North American trade."
Technology was clearly at the forefront of KBIS 2025, with innovations such as smart home technology and customizable living solutions emphasizing wellness. Local designer Brian G. Thornton from Brian G. Thornton Designs LLC highlighted the growing popularity of the flat-plate convection and induction range. This innovative cooking surface seamlessly integrates with kitchen countertops, significantly minimizing visual clutter and enhancing cleanliness.
Thornton observed, "People are looking for more functional countertops in kitchens. Other than the floor, the next largest horizontal surface area in kitchens is countertops." The introduction of the BlueStar’s new 48-inch Platinum Series Induction Range showcased at the event exemplifies this shift, combining the aesthetics of traditional ranges with modern induction capabilities. Ann Muth, vice president of marketing at BlueStar, highlighted consumer feedback during product development, saying, "We focused on groundbreaking features for chefs and home cooks alike."
Miele also contributed to the innovation narrative by launching its new 36-inch induction range, which features multiple PowerFlex Zones, providing flexibility for various cooking vessels. Alongside this, Miele introduced their MasterCool Line, which not only enhances the cooling performance of refrigeration but also aims for sustainability and intuitive modern design. Its latest features cater to those who value functionality and versatility, traits high on the priority list for many home designers.
The theme of color was another focal point at KBIS, with Pantone announcing Mocha Mousse as the 2025 color of the year—a rich, warm brown stance. Other notable colors selected include Olive, Signal Brown, Juniper, and Black Ore. Thornton noted the rising trend of darker hues and sophisticated tones making their way back to kitchen designs including deep reds and blacks. He stated, "While blue painted cabinets remain popular, I’m also seeing wall colors leaning toward plum families and dramatic contrasts, creating visual depth".
Further insights revealed additional color trends for the upcoming year. Behr introduced Rumors, described as a bold ruby red, and Future Dusk, which balances deep blue and purple shades. Thornton remarked on the shift toward dark cabinetry styles, including cinnamon tones, and luxurious oak kitchen cabinets. "Designs are moving toward luxurious aesthetics, where whites are contrasted with darker-hued cabinets and unique hardware choices. This year, we are also witnessing bold choices from designers stepping away from traditional hardware finishes. Many are choosing black hardware instead of brass or brushed nickel. This trend is particularly prominent among modern and contemporary designs."
The diverse environments at KBIS allowed professionals not only to view advanced products but also to engage with peers. Attendees exchanged ideas on how to incorporate aesthetic elegance with functionality for spaces intended for both cooking and entertaining. With kitchens becoming central hubs for family gatherings and social interaction, the incorporation of larger islands for storage and seating continues to be prominent among designers, setting the tone for future projects.
With the various global influences showcased at KBIS, the event firmly positions itself as the pivotal gathering where trends, technology, and design converge, paving the way for future innovations within the kitchen and bath space.
