The athletes of the Municipal Sports Club (CSM) Sfântu Gheorghe shined during the National Ju-Jitsu Championships, returning home with 17 medals, including four golds, ten silvers, and three bronzes. The championships took place at the Polivalent Sports Hall in Târgu Mureș from March 6 to March 9, 2025, attracting over 500 competitors from across the country who had over 900 entries, with each participant allowed to compete in up to four different events.
CSM Sfântu Gheorghe fielded ten athletes, coached by Emeritus Coach Prof. Oltean Petru Shihan, across 20 different events. The results were impressive, showcasing both individual and team efforts at the championships recognized by the International Ju-Jitsu Federation (IJJF).
One of the standout performances came from Mihaela Gabriela Onisoru, who secured two silver medals - placing second in the Tineret Fighting and Juniori I Fighting categories at -63 kg. Her determination and skill highlighted CSM’s strong female presence at the event.
Denis Pavel was another star of the show, achieving the highest honors as he became a double national champion. He claimed gold medals in both the Seniori Fighting and Seniori Contact categories at -56 kg. His victories demonstrated the elite caliber of training at CSM.
Brianna Andreea Lungu had commendable performances as well, finishing with one silver and one bronze. She took second place in Juniori 1 Fighting at -57 kg and third place in Tineret Fighting at -63 kg, marking her as one to watch for future competitions.
Adrian Claudiu Stănciuleasa also shined, securing two medals. He won gold in Juniori 1 JIU-JITSU NOGI at -69 kg and silver in Juniori 1 JIU-JITSU NE-WAZA, solidifying his competitive stature.
David Erik Dancs completed the event as a double silver medalist, achieving second place honors in both Juniori 2 Fighting and Juniori 2 Jiu-Jitsu Ne-Waza categories at -48 kg. His consistency and technique proved advantageous throughout the competition.
Mihnea Pietrareanu also made his mark, winning gold and bronze. He finished first place in Cadeți Fighting and took home third place in Juniori 2 Fighting at -44 kg, displaying remarkable versatility.
Alexandru Stănciuleasa had notable performances too, earning silver medals across two categories: Cadeți JIU-JITSU NE-WAZA and Cadeți JIU-JITSU NOGI at -56 kg. His achievements reinforce CSM's depth of talent.
Mario-Daniel Moga showcased his skill by winning silver at Seniori JU-JITSU CONTACT at -77 kg, illustrating the competitive spirit of CSM's male athletes.
Daniel-Valentin Mocanu also made contributions to the medal tally with silver and bronze performances at Seniori JU-JITSU FIGHTING and Seniori JU-JITSU CONTACT at -85 kg. His determination and training paid off significantly.
Finally, Andrei Cătălin Cioclu, though finishing fifth at Fighting juniori 1 at -77 kg, marked his first significant competition, setting the stage for future growth.
With such strong performances, CSM Sfântu Gheorghe not only embellishes its own medal tally but also elevates the reputation of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe and Covasna County.
